NHS staff and the NI increase

I'm the first to admit I'm a bit crap at finance stuff but I've just seen the ani increase of 1.25%

Our pay award of 3% (which we still haven't received) is presumably only 1.75% in real terms now once you factor in the money taken for NI? Am I right? Or am I missing something....

No, because we won't pay an extra 1.25% NI for every pound earned.

The 3% will be paid from the pay date at the end of this month btw.

You don't pay NI on all of your salary (it's around 10k a year before meeting the threshold to pay) but don't worry, it's not a rise anyway as it's not only eaten up by ni increase but it's below inflation so don't get too excited 😳
