We are flying at the weekend, due to logistics and work we had to pack today.

We had a joint luggage allowance of 128 kilos, we have only managed 40.

The shame, the shame. Blush

For serious overpacking, you need serious hypochondria, preferably of the digestive system.

I was part of a Guide trip to Adelboden as a plus 1 for DW. Baggage allowance was for the group at 20kg/person, so it was suggested that no one take more than 80%. Souvenirs etc. The Guides, being small, came in around 11-12 each, the adults around 14-15. Except for two. 71 kilos between them, mostly consisting of dehydrated food and food supplements, bowel accelerants and retarders, strange unguents for exotic skin conditions etc etc. Oh, and they couldn't physically carry any of it.

We have fifteen paperbacks between us.

I'm attempting to pack at the moment....I have a 46kg allowance. Sounds a lot but going for a year (maybe more) to a country with hot summers and very cold winters. Its a struggle and I'd love a packing fairy to come and do it for me.

Generally we manage 40kg for the family (of 4) for two weeks I'd say - two cases at 18-20kg each. Couldn't do carry-on for more than 2 or 3 nights just for me though.
