I got a call from a Dubai number. I didn’t answer but immediately after it stopped ringing I got an answerphone text notification.

I misset a call I think from the hospital after that and have got another text answerphone message from whoever it is. I need to hear hospital message but if I phone my answerphone am I going to get charged something ridiculous when the Dubai message is played. I’ve tried to google but can’t find anything helpful. Do any of you know what to do please?

You should be charged for listening to your answerphone. Or are you aboard and calling your home country to listen to messages? If so, it should be the same charge regardless of where the caller originated from as you aren’t calling them back.

Your voicemail messages should be free, regardless of where they originated

Im in The uk. I know no one in Dubai and have no links there so assume it’s a scam call. I’ve heard about calls from overseas where if you answer you get charged £10 or something but if the call goes to answer phone and I dial up to retrieve a subsequent message from the hospital and i hear the Dubai message first can I be charged for listening to it? I hope I’m making sense here.

Do you know anyone in Dubai? If not, I wouldn't even try to listen to the message. Also, as above, you don't have to pay more than a normal call to listen to your own voicemail, if they're telling you to dial another number it's not your voicemail.

If you call your own vm you are not going to be charged anything more than usual.

If you use your normal saved number to check your voicemail, it can't be interfere with. Don't click links in text messages etc if you think they are spoofing.

Ok thanks everyone. I deleted the Dubai number before the message played.
