Is it possible to get a BFP this late?

Hi all,

My period is now 5 days late. Was due on Thursday and from Wednesday I've been having painful cramps and awful lower back pain. I just assumed it was my period coming but it hasn't come yet. I've also been feeling a bit shit, very nauseated and a bit spaced out. Boobs have been getting shooting pains too.

All sighs point to pregnancy but the problem is I have done countless tests since the day I was due and they have all been negative. According to my period app, if I were pregnant I would be about 5 weeks, but surely by then you'd see a BFP, just seems its too late to not be getting a positive result?

Should I just give up hope that I'm pregnant this time?

Have you had your Covid vaccination recently? That can affect menstrual cycles.

Are you confirming ovulation with OPKs or basal body temperature?

Even if you have a regular cycle it's common for you to ovulate late some months. If you are testing negative, it's most likely that you ovulated late and your period is not technically overdue yet.

Definitely possible though from my experience more likely in people who have trouble conceiving and/or retaining pregnancies .

I should say my experience is based on personal / friends in the ttc community who were going through or considering ivf. No actual research of typical people!
