Hi All, total newbie here and any brutally honest advice would be really appreciated
We are looking for an area to buy our first home and to start a family. We currently don't have children but are hoping to try in the next year or so.
We are both from Wimborne in Dorset, and conveniently, both of our sets of parents are also living in Wimborne. As beautiful is Wimborne is, we'd like to move somewhere new. Our budget is 600k.
After driving round a lot of areas, we stumbled upon Brockenhurst and Sway in the New Forest. Beautiful places, and Brockenhurst has lots of restaurants and pubs. Estate agent told us that we're more likely to be able to afford Sway. We've looked round Bournemouth and Poole (Ashley Cross and Southbourne), and loved the coffee shops/restaurants but found them to be quite congested and we like the idea of green space.
Since mentioning this to parents, they've mainly been a little hesitant about me living there as a potential mum. They're worried that I may be isolated, and have said that it's super important to be near amenities such as soft play/tumble tots, nurseries, kiddie areas. Husband works in Poole and the train from Brock/Sway is super convenient.
So with that, here are my questions!
-
For an (easier) life as a potential mum to babies/toddlers, should we stay in Bournemouth/Poole, near to kiddie facilities?
-
Are there these kinds of facilities in the Southern New Forest?
-
Would you recommend the New Forest to move to if you don't know anyone there?
Thank you so much for reading!
