Best way to lose the baby weight?

ncfc686 · 07/09/2021 09:05

So I'm 5ft 2 and currently 69.6kg so rather overweight, I have 2 children one who is 3 and one is 3 months, I never lost the baby weight from my first child, I have a appalling diet and don't exercise minus walking maybe 5000 steps every couple of days.

I drink lots of fizzy drink, not keen on salads and the only fruit I like the taste of is strawberries and apples.

Where should I start first? I'm desperate to not look so overweight!

Bmi is 28.1 Confused

Thanks

Keep a food and exercise diary to determine exactly how much food you’re eating and exercise you’re doing. If you have a smart phone then there’s normally a function on there that record your steps

Quit alcohol if you drink
Walk 7k steps every day, even if that involves walking around your garden
Get some scales so you can weight your food eg a bowl of cereal can be anything from 30g to 200g depending on how much you pour in
Don’t snack on crap (biscuits, chocolate, crisps, cake, sweets).
Definitely switch to diet drinks

Use my fitness pal to calculate your calories per day. Depending on various factors you'll need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight but this is possible to do while still eating good meals and feeling full.

LittleLottieChaos · 07/09/2021 09:23

Up to 10000 steps a day, you’ll feel so much better in yourself.

Get a soda stream? Have fizzy water but 100% cut out the sugared drinks. After a while you won’t notice it.

I am actually oddly looking forward to losing my baby weight again next year…

Cut out the fizzy drinks
Get moving
No takeaways
Limit sugar
Be more mindful when you are eating.
Use food as fuel
Three healthy meals a day
No snacking

Thanks everyone! I have zero fizzy drinks, and have limit them to one a day! Tbh I don't drink much at all, up until last week I only had one can of coke a day and that was my drink intake for the day!

I eat a lot of carbs, pasta and bread are my downfall and I expect my portion sizes are too big too.

I only have one snack a day, as a family I want to try and change our diet as I am passing bad habits on to my 3 year old, and she is 80th centile for weight!

The problem with carbs is that you can so easily overdo it, that’s why weighing everything is important. I believe 75g is the standard portion of spaghetti, which may be a lot less than what you’re used to.

If you’re on Instagram follow the fitness chef, he gives visuals as to how many calories things actually have. You can have, eg, spag Bol every night but as long as you measure out the portions you won’t be overdoing it.

Eat meat and green beans/veg not doused in butter.

Reduce carbs

Apples are good as they have pectin in then which make you feel full.
Exercise

Maybe instead of puddings have fruit salad with a bit of fat free yoghurt and a drizzle of honey

Drink more, one can of fizzy drink a day will mean you are dehydrated and that can mask as hunger. Drink water, buy a bottle and aim to get through it a few times per day, use squash to help the transition if needs must.

Bulk meals out with vegetables, that way you can still have a big plateful of food but without the calories.

Don't think that you have to eat salad to lose weight its such a myth.

DH lost loads of weight very easily or WW, he really rates it.

Easiest exercise with young children at home is music in and disco dancing! Wears the kids out and you will burn lots of calories!
