What a star he will always be Omar to me the best character from The Wire www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-58470253

One of the best characters ever, from probably the best TV show ever. How sad.

VladmirsPoutine · 06/09/2021 22:46

Absolutely shocking!! A truly talented actor.

LloydColesCommotions · 06/09/2021 22:52

Loved him in The Wire and Boardwalk Empire too.

Scautish · 06/09/2021 22:59

I’m so sad. Currently rewatching the Wire and he is incredible as Omar - my absolute favourite TV character in my absolute favourite show.

BootsScootsAndToots · 06/09/2021 23:03

We're re-watching The Wire too. This is very dad 😕

BootsScootsAndToots · 06/09/2021 23:03

*Sad

Cocolapew · 06/09/2021 23:04

I just rewatched Hap and Leonard , loved him in it, what sad news.

KaptainKaveman · 06/09/2021 23:11

He's outstanding in When They See Us as Antron's father. The depth and gravitas of a really good actor. RIP.

BraveBananaBadge · 06/09/2021 23:16

So sad. No cause of death yet from what I can see? Always a mark of quality to see him in anything. RIP.

FatLarrysBand · 06/09/2021 23:24

The most extraordinarily good-looking man, and a superb actor.

Leaving this here, from the underrated 'Community':-

Such a talented actor. Omar is one of those characters that stays with you. Loved him in Lovecraft Country too. He could do menacing, funny and loveable all in one character. Such sad news, bless his soul

Heroin overdose.
BraveBananaBadge · 06/09/2021 23:33

Oh that's awful. Thought that was all behind him.

bettythebutterfly · 06/09/2021 23:34

He was mesmerizing as Omar in The Wire. How very sad.

EsmaCannonball · 06/09/2021 23:42

He made Omar one of the best fictional characters of all time. He always stood out in anything he appeared in. It's awful to find out that he had such problems.

Bobmonkfish · 06/09/2021 23:50

Oh, so sad.

Omar was the best character in the best programme I have ever watched.

echt · 07/09/2021 00:49

Oh, that's sad news.

A tip-top actor.

BeaucoupFish · 07/09/2021 22:13

Amen to that Wire is awesome but would have been a lot less so without Omar I used to love it when he was on screen , absolutely brilliant
almahart · 07/09/2021 22:19

Omar's court appearance is my very favourite TV scene ever. What an actor. Such sad news.

thecognoscenti · 07/09/2021 22:19

Omar: the hardest bastard you ever could meet, totally fearless, but also principled (no robbing taxpayers, wear a tie in court even if you're going to wear it somewhat unconventionally). Legend. RIP MKW.

LloydColesCommotions · 07/09/2021 22:30

OMG the tie. So funny and so moving and truthful all at the same time.

How do I make a link clickable?

This is an amazing tribute. Really moving

almahart · 07/09/2021 22:41

Ah, I did. What an incredibly powerful tribute.

BraveBananaBadge · 07/09/2021 23:36

Watched that before and was absolutely delighted. It's a red carpet, bish bash bosh, on to the next mic and silly question - but Wendell Pierce stays there and just gives his time, for nearly two minutes, saying all he wants to say. It's really lovely and powerful.

TravellingSpoon · 07/09/2021 23:43

He was brilliant in the very overlooked 'the night of'.

A sad loss.
