Loads of 80's kids cartoons/shows already mentioned like The Racoons (I have a colleague I refer to as Bert Racoon), ThunderCats, Dogtanian, knightmare, etc. Not to forget the Gummi Bears, Familyness and the Poddington Peas! The 8.15 to Manchester, which I think used to replace Going Live in the school summer holidays if I remember correctly?

Grandstand was the soundtrack to a Saturday afternoon.

Thomas the Tank Engine has always been divisive but that's easily remedied by watching the Beyonce/TTTT mashup video:

Another vote for Thunderbirds and has there ever a better opening to a kids programme than Stingray? Anything could happen in the next half hour
And going a bit more grown up the dirty dirty brass of the Man from Uncle theme - No one ever made a cooler entrance than Robert Vaughan in One of Our Spies is Missing
I also really liked the theme to Horses Galore - Pulstar by Vangelis

Speaking of Vangelis - theme to Carl Sagan's Cosmos. Wonderful music and series. I think I want this played at my funeral.

And "Alpha" - used as a theme/incidental music in various programmes but most notably Death of a Princess (1980 docu-drama)

The Equalizer 80's series with Edward Woodward.

Chi Mai which was the theme tune to BBC's The Life & Times of David Lloyd George Howard's Way
