Do I Need to Buy a Whole New Door Handle?

Really boring thread I know and I apologise for it but I’m a bit unwell at the moment and we’re getting the house ready to sell which is stressful in itself. The door handle on our front door has just had a few chunks fallen out of the metal. I’ve no idea why, it just seems to have perished. Replacing the whole handle would be a pain. Do I have to do this or can you just put another plate/fascia on it?

My front door had a small metal disc in it that broke in half and apparently this was critical in making the handle work. I went on Amazon and was able to find the equivalent door handle part. Cost £3 and just slotted in like the old one.

So some bits that break are replaceable. Important to work out which bit has broken then identify and identical spare online

Thank you @PennyWus. I think it's just the fascia and nothing to do with the mechanism itself.

If ita just the face plate it can be changed. Just make sure the new 1 is the same size and the euro is in the same place, saves making more holes in the doors if screw holes are in the same place.
