Etiquette on FB marketplace

Am I doing something wrong? Advertised some items on FB. Received a message asking "is this item still available?". I replied stating it was and then nothing. This morning I have had 6 similar messages from different people and not one of them has got back to me. Why bother if you are not really interested or am I missing something?

I was looking for a baby sling on FB marketplace last night. From a buyer's page, it just says the item has been on sale for "over a week" or whatever, so I ended up contacting several different sellers with slightly different products and prices in case most had sold or chucked the item, so I can see why you've had several messages.

Of the sellers I contacted, one never replied, one replied to say item had gone, and 2 were still available. I'm going to collect the cheaper of the items tonight, as I won't need it for long as DD is top end of the weight range, so I want to pay as little as possible. I have contacted the more expensive seller (double the price, same item but different colour) explaining this and thanking them for getting back to me. it would be good if people could at least do this.

Have you tried buying anything on FB marketplace?

It can be a nightmare. Lots of people don’t respond, or don’t delete the item once it’s sold. So I’m not really surprised, I always check if I can have it first and then ask DP if he’ll have the kids when I go get it and then go back to the seller with a definite ‘I’ll take it’. Hang in there, someone will take it. If you’ve had six messages already I’d suggest it’s on too cheap Grin

And this is why I don't bother much anymore.

Not worth the hassle. And then half the time they don't bother showing up so you are hanging about waiting. Just bloody rude.

“Is this still available?” Is one of the auto prompts when you view a listing on mobile…

I’d guess either people who click it for everything and see what responses they get, or people accidentally knocking it and messaging you,
