Ring video doorbell on high street

My front door opens to a High street in a small town.
I would like additional security and a way to speak to people who ring the doorbell. I have a ring video doorbell on my back door which is great.
Can you place a video doorbell on a door that’s on a public street?

You're allowed to film public streets. You can take pictures of anyone you want too. The law only bothers if you use the photos online or for your business etc. Basically you won't be able to show your doorbell footage, that's all. (Except maybe if the police request it)

It's private property you can't directly aim at such as pointing a camera only at the house of a neighbour for example.

Many businesses have Video intercoms facing onto High Streets, etc..

They are not controlled under DPA unlike Video Surveillance systems, unless the image are recorded as part of that Video System.
