Ds crying over going back to school

Ds5 is 7, going into year 3. He is very autistic but also high functioning. Hopefully getting an ehcp this year. He loves maths but hates writing. He can write though and has lovely handwriting, he just hates doing it. Every morning he cries because he doesn't want to go to school and do writing. I'm not sure why he doesn't like writing, he isn't verbal enough to tell me.

Ds is going back to school on Wednesday but already the crying has started about going back to school and doing writing. We have had a lovely summer holidays, although I have needed eyes in the back of my head with him as usual because he needs constant supervision.

I don't know what I can do to help him. I've tried getting him to type on the computer instead of writing but he hated that too. Home learning during the lockdowns was awful for both of us so I don't think homeschooling would be an option. Getting him to do his reading and spellings is always a nightmare too and he cries about that as well. Moving schools would be very difficult as we are rural and have 2 other dc at that school as well as 2 in the local secondary. He would still have to do writing at any school so it probably wouldn't help anyway.

Is there anything I can do for him? I wish the summer holidays could go on forever.
