Just an ask in hope really. I’ve been on this for years without stopping and am pretty bald.
I am thinking of having a break from it for a few months to see if my hair improves. Has anyone had this? I am dreading it as my periods are hellish but my baldness upsetting me too Sad

It’s probably the lack of oestrogen causing it. The mini pill has no oestrogen- the combined pill does but obviously you have the risks and side effects that go along with taking that to get the oestrogen. Depending on your age / if you think you might be menopausal or peri menopausal you could use oestrogel (oestrogen gel) and utrogestan as a form of HRT to replace the oestrogen alongside the mini pill. This is what I do (I’m 40 and in early menopause due to autoimmune issues).

Google the Newson Health clinic website for lots of free menopause information.

Have you seen your gp about your hair loss?

Talked to my practice nurse and she did testosterone levels and menopause bloods but they showed nothing. Not menopausal

Hmmm. Maybe it’s not related to the pill then? As in perhaps it’s more of an autoimmune thing? I’d be asking for bloods for thyroid and lupus type issues, if they weren’t included in the ones your Gp did before.

Interesting! I'm on cerazette and my hair is constantly falling out. My bloods showed I was strongly deficient in Vit D, so I've been given a large dose and have to take it every day. It's improved slightly. I also have to go back for menopause testing. I don't dare stop taking cerazette!

Hair loss is a well known side effect of Cerazette. I had noticeable thinning with only 6 months of use years ago. My hair grew back thicker than ever after discontinuing and taking a good hair supplement and has remained thick ever since.

Been on vit d since corona started and DH swears by it. I don’t want my periods back, they were hell and led to a ferritin of 2. But my baldness fierce distressing too.
