Outside key lock boxes

Wild thread for a Saturday night.....
Does anyone have one?
Does it change your insurance??
Am thinking of putting one of the code ones in the outside cupboard at the front of my house as a safety net in case I ever get locked out or the children eventually as they get older.

I used to have one at a previous house, I didn't know you had to tell your insurance company so can't comment on that

Loads of older people have them for their carers don't they, I see them on lots of houses.

We’ve got one.
Had to put a key ring on it threatening anyone who didn’t put it back with death.
Young adults coming in drunk with no key were bringing it in so if I needed it it wasn’t there!
After a lot of moaning they finally got it and now it’s fine.
Ours is in the porch so not on show.

They are quite easy to break into if you are happy to spend five minutes fiddling with them (see YouTube for instructions!). I imagine if someone does crack the combination and use your key to steal your stuff then your insurance would not pay out, but I am not an insurance expert.

We had one for a holiday let last year but they had managed to give us the wrong code. DP fiddled with it for 10 minutes and cracked it!
So I'd put it out of sight from the road if you do get one.

Extremely insecure! The code is easy to crack. And they can be prized off the wall in three seconds, taken round the corner, whacked with a mallet, and your keys are anybody's .

To me they are like an advert for an easily burgled house occupied by a vulnerable elderly person.

We have one and it's a god send! Teenage DC were forever losing keys. I find it really handy too when I want to ppp out for a dog walk and don't have a pocket for a key.

We have one hidden out of sight on an outbuilding. Perfect for incoming teens!
