Mr Beast and other youtubers. Such losers.

It's pathetic that these are the role models for our children. I allow my kids to watch short periods of youtube with restrictions on. These man children are just dreadful.

Most children in my year 1 class last year aspired to be youtubers. How depressing

MrBeast gives a lot of money away to 'normal' people though, yes he's loud and obnoxious but at least he's doing something with his fame 🤷‍♀️

dad11122 · 04/09/2021 19:13

Mr Beast seems to have made a (successful) career from giving things away. I have no idea how he does it and I'd rather that my daughters had a more stable career but I wouldn't criticise Mr Beast.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 04/09/2021 19:13

Yeah but only to gain subscribers. Its hardly selfless.

The more subscribers he has though the more he can give away, I've seen him give away half a million dollars at a time to people. He does seem to be trying to do good things instead of just acting like an absolute tool for no benefit to anyone

NinaGonk · 04/09/2021 19:15

I gradually warmed to most of them. I think you have to just to preserve your sanity.

But I cant stand how they dont value things - saw unspeakable smashing boxes that may or may not have TVs and toys etc in them. The game was whether it had smashed or not. I think of all the kids out there with nothing.

I miss the days of Blippi (never thought I'd say that).

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 04/09/2021 19:17

I just think he could be spreading a better message. Read books, be healthy, be a nice person. It's so centred on $$$$ and gaming. His mates seem to hang about so they can be famous too.

And the girlfriends. Do better!

I get what you're saying OP and I do agree but no tweens/teens are going to watch you tubers talk about eating healthy and reading books. It's all about the fun and the craziness!

NotMyCat · 04/09/2021 19:30

Not really seeing the issue with him. He gives money away a lot, buys presents for kids, plants trees.. that's being a nice person

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 04/09/2021 19:42

I suppose it's the lack of ambition in kids as a result. No need to do well in exams, just film yourself messing about playing Minecraft and you'll be famous and wealthy.

Except, that won't happen for the vast majority. They'll have to study and/ or graft to earn a living.

Mr Beast is basically like the secret millionaire. He gives money to people and my son loves seeing how happy he makes them.

There's a lot of crap on YouTube but Mr Beast is one of the better ones imo.

ColintheCrow · 04/09/2021 19:50

Mr Beast is the least of YouTube problems.

FrippEnos · 04/09/2021 19:51

Invasionofthegutsnatchers

Its no different from WAGS, models and probably footballers etc.

But it is miles better than the influencers that pretended to like products but were being paid by the companies to promote their products,

Newnewnew1179 · 04/09/2021 19:58

I have a 12 year old, he is very much not a saint but he found some cash on the street a few months and he said I’ll give it to a charity to plant trees like Mr Beast.

I think at 12 he realises that being a you tuber isn’t an especially realistic career ambition and it’s hard work and a large amount of luck so I don’t think he thinks it’s an alternative to working at school.

There is absolutely no way he’d watch anyone on you tube telling him to work hard, eat healthy and read books- that’s what I do.

EekThreek · 04/09/2021 20:20

I'm starting to warm to Mr beast. I agree with a PP about Unspeakable. He is an unspeakable manchild.

I'm just making sure talk to my 6yo about how realistic it is - just as I was told as a 6yo that I probably wouldn't be Kylie Minogue when I grew up (still bitter about that, but they were right).

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 04/09/2021 20:34

I don't mind Mr. Beast however Flamingo can go shit in his hat.

Why are you screaming?!

Flumo · 04/09/2021 20:36

Does my head in 🤯

Chronicallymothering · 04/09/2021 20:43

I think Mr Beast is one of the least obnoxious ones. Unspeakable is ok too.

Do you remember being a teen? The shit we used to watch on MTV..... Jackass? Those vacuous women on that programme where one was Tommy hilfigers daughter.

The messaging hasn't changed just the medium.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 04/09/2021 20:48

That show was called Rich Girls and I loved it. :o

You are spot-on by the way.

ragged · 04/09/2021 20:53

We look forward to OP starting a successful YouTube channel that does all the things OP approves of.
