Shit day topped off with a prang in the car

Having a rubbish day today and just been shouted at super aggressively by some woman and her late teen/early twenty son. Our cars came together as we were both reversing out of parking bays. Swapped details and took pictures, though nearly had to just drive off as they were very shouty/intimidating and had a 1 year old and 4 year old in the car on my own.

Understandably she was upset (accidents are upsetting!). She was initially ranting that her boss would go mad at her for crashing the car then changed her tune very quickly and said she hadn't been moving Hmm Worried now it'll be a long drama with the insurance companies. I doubt I'll need to claim as basically no damage to my car.

Just a horrible experience.

First thing to do, see if there's CCTV round.

Hellocatshome · 04/09/2021 18:52

Any witnesses or cctv? Most likely go down as 50/50 fault.

Fuckadoodledoo2 · 04/09/2021 18:53

No CCTV according to council website, and the car that had stopped and flashed me (or her?) out scattered pronto when they saw her shouting Confused

I've written my best recollection of it and attached photos and emailed to myself. Will phone insurer first thing (is that the right thing to do, even if I don't need to claim?) and give the details.

Where were you? At shops etc?
They'll have CCTV

HocusPocus31 · 04/09/2021 18:55

Yeah just tell them you want to do notification only.
But if she claims you'll have to go through it.
So best to dh and evidence before hand so your prepared

Call the insurers now, if they are closed it will tell you have to submit a claim/report an accident online. You should do it as soon as possible. There will be time to send your photos etc later. Yes you need to contact them even if you aren't claiming.

Fuckadoodledoo2 · 04/09/2021 18:57

@HocusPocus31 I've checked and the website says there's no CCTV. Annoyingly was going to get a dash cam but just haven't got round to it Blush

Why do you need to contact the insurance if you're not claiming?
Fuckadoodledoo2 · 04/09/2021 18:58

@Hellocatshome I've tried calling but lines are shut and it just says to call tomorrow. Tried their online chat thing too and same response. Can't find anywhere to report online.

Why do you need to contact the insurance if you're not claiming
Because you have to report all accidents its normally in your terms and conditions and also if the other car is a company car which it sounds like they will 100% be claiming.

Hellocatshome · 04/09/2021 19:00

@Fuckadoodledoo2 ah well thats ok then as they will know you couldn't have reported earlier.
