Dd in hospital in ITU - handhold please

I did have a thread running yesterday but I can't seem to find it.

Basically, she took an overdose, we went to A&E, she was triaged, kept on the ward and I thought she'd be discharged today. Got to hospital this morning to find her back in resus after having multiple seizures with an abnormal heartbeat. She's now intubated in ITU in an induced coma and I am so scared I don't know what to do with myself. Do I sit down? Do I drink tea? I'm cold, do I put a jumper on? I'm just standing still in the relatives room staring out of the window.

Flowers I've been checking back on your old thread today looking for any news. I'm so sorry OP. She is being well looked after. Have everything crossed💓

Thinking of you and your DD OP. I was hoping to read that she was home with you? Is there someone who can bring you some bits? You need to be warm so definitely get a jumper and eat, even if all you can manage is a chocolate bar. Your DD is in the best place, sending hugs and strength.

@Christmasfairy2020

What has she taken
MNHQ removed the name of the medication from the other thread to reduce risk of copycat behaviour and it’s not sensible or useful to discuss that here either. Her doctors know and will know how to manage it.
RosesAndHellebores · 04/09/2021 19:25

I was following your other thread. Is anyone looking after you op? It is really not your fault. Said as the mother of a dd who self harmed and od'd.

Thinking of you both and sending love Flowers

Fishocado · 04/09/2021 19:26

Really sorry to read about your daughter, and I hope she is more stable now.

I have been in intensive care on several occasions - I found this charity very helpful for support and so have my family

Also, if you don't live close to the hospital ITU staff can arrange a hotel for you so you can be closer.

Flowers Thinking of you OP.

Hadenoughcrap2 · 04/09/2021 19:28

So sorry to hear she's still in hospital. I hope you're able to access the support you both need.
Try to keep drinking and eating and try to sleep when you can as she'll need you healthy when she wakes up 💐

Sending love & hugs ❤️.
My mum always says "Take deep breaths, take deep breaths" whenever there's a crisis of whatever sort. It's good advice.
Hoping there some good news coming your way soon.xx

Hi OP, just wanted to say that I hope you have your jumper on now and you've had that cup of tea from the kind nurse. I'm so, so sorry to read your news and giving you a massive hand hold and hug too. We are all thinking of and supporting you. Much, much love x

healmebaby · 04/09/2021 19:38

She’s in the best place, although that will probably be of little comfort

RivkaMumsnet · 04/09/2021 19:40

Hi OP,

We have found your other thread, so we'll close this one as it can be quite confusing if two threads are running simultaneously like this.
