I'm planning a 70s themed party for my DH. I'm an 80s child 😁
What sort of sweets, games or other party stuff was common place?

Bonus points for links to buy things as I've left it rather late as been concentrating on the start of school.

Cheese and pineapple chunks on cocktail sticks stuck into a melon or orange?

Pass the parcel is a must. And hot dog sausages cut up on sticks.

Vol-au-vents filled with cooked chicken mixed with Campbell condensed soup or mushrooms with mushroom soup.

Quiche Lorraine (with bacon).

A sandwich loaf. Cut a loaf lengthways then put it back together with various sandwich fillings. Wrap it in clingfilm to chill then slice it normally.

Baked Alaska.

Stuffed eggs. Cut hard boiled eggs lengthways. Scoop out the yolks and mix with salad cream or Heinz sandwich filling and put it back in. Put a crisp stand g up in each yolk like a sail on a boat.

Fairy mushrooms. Cut the top and bottom off a hard-boiled egg so it stands up. Place half a tomato on top then create spots with the discarded bits of egg white.

If it's for a grown up then things like a lottery scratch card, or a miniature of vodka?

Once the drink starts flowing maybe a game of musical chairs?

loopylindi · 04/09/2021 16:21

Black forest gateau,
profiteroles,
little squares of sandwiches made with brown and white bread set out like a chess board
scampi and chips/chicken and chips in a basket.

mcok canapes - soft squirty cheese piped onto Ritz crackers.

I'm an 80's baby but my parents got together in the 1970's
My mum always had a party box and it contained purple tinsel 🤦🏻‍♀️ and we always always had "punch" in a big 1970's bowl with a ladle and little cups on the side

Kite22 · 04/09/2021 17:59

Sorry, did you mean puddings?
I saw "1970s sweets" and got over excited, remembering when your 8p pocket money could buy a lot of sweeties Blush

No, I meant sweets as in your list, as I hadn't thought any further than that. But all the other ideas have been amazing.

I'm excited about the chewy sweets most though Grin
