Intensely boring question alert - can you recommend me a printer?

DD is starting GCSE art and does a lot of work on the computer, so we need a printer which actually prints in colour rather than reducing it to random lines.

What shall we buy?

Bonus points if it turns itself on when you want to print, our last one has never done that which is possibly the most irritating thing in the world.

Look at HP instant ink options. We have a HP envy which coped well with enormous amounts of printing over school closure and came with a years ink subscription. Really pleased with it.

We have an HP laser jet

Another vote for HP laser printer.

Have a look at their subscription plans for ink. Not cheap, but good value for a few years for exams.

Thank you. HP it is then. The Envy looks like good value.

Yep, hp envy with instant ink here too. DH does scans of maps for hill walking so he doesn't muck up his maps getting them in and out his bag. They are brilliantly detailed.
