Constantly waking up thirsty?

I am wondering if anyone experiences this and whether it’s just because I don’t drink enough water - but lately, I’ve been waking up very thirsty with such a dry mouth.

I hardly drink any water - on a bad day I can drink basically none, on a good day maybe about 500ml (I know this is a big problem so any tips on how to increase my water intake would be great!) - but yesterday, I drank nearly a 1l I would say and still have this horrible dry mouth / thirst feeling throughout the night and when I wake up. I also drink maybe 1-2 cups of tea a day or 1 latte (I am a serial Diet Coke drinker).

Also, if I drink water with squash, is that okay? Or does it need to be pure water?

You definitely need to drink a lot more!!! I am partial to diet Coke as well but it never quenches my thirst the same way that water does. Squash is fine too. I would also speak to your GP to see if you need to be tested for diabetes, as being thirsty is a symptom. Re increasing your water intake: get a large bottle and tell yourself you need to drink it 1/2/3 times a day.
