A good Harry Potter Cloak

A strange request.

DS2 wants a Harry Potter Cloak for his birthday. I ordered one and it was awful. Cheap shoddy material and just not very nice. It cost £20 so wasn't cheap!

Can anyone recommend a decent one for between 20-40 pounds.

Thanks!

You probably need to look for a velvet one on eBay. M&S used to sell them. What age is he?

He'll be 7 :) I hadn't thought of ebay. I looked on Etsy but was hoping someone might have a recommendation!

Sorry for that messy looking link

I’d look and see if anyone is selling any of the legitimate ones second hand online. Otherwise, you may just have to bite the bullet and buy it full price. DH has got one 😂 as he’s obsessed with Harry Potter and has also spent about £500 on wands Confused

I made one for DD1 one Christmas when she was about 10 and the whole HP thing was at its beginning. You couldn't buy all the tat then!

I used some gorgeous burgundy velvet with a gold taffeta lining. I used a Chinese style knot and loop fastening at the throat. I had no pattern, just did it by eye, really. I cut a big, generous hood that puddled on her shoulders, inspired by the Scottish Widows ads. She was enraptured with it. I still have it!

If you don't sew, is there a granny it auntie who does? It has to be someone who knows and loves the child. The cost of seamstress's time would push it into the stratosphere.

Look for a used one from Universal on eBay. The quality of them is amazing.
