Who would pay nearly £2 mill for this house?

Well £1.7. I was just having my dreams of Belsize park when I saw this. Its exactly the same as the council house I was brought up in from the outside in the 1970s. No garden although it does look like a nice tidy little estate. Theres a lot of clutter I cant work out what type of people live there www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/110737514#/?channel=RES_BUY

I love the inside! But yes, certainly not what I'd consider a 2 mill house. That's London for you, I guess.

ronswansonstache · 03/09/2021 18:20

Bonkers! - overlooked by five really big tower blocks too (Chalcots Estate)

Twizbe · 03/09/2021 18:24

Location location location.

It's north London, it's by the tube, it has outside space and a garage. I'm not massively surprised by the price

abbey44 · 03/09/2021 18:27

What a difference a postcode makes - a similar house near me (north east) would be under £100K...

Heruka · 03/09/2021 18:28

I think it’s very interestingly designed and love their style. It’s certainly more spacious and cool than the council flat I grew up in!! But London prices, wow - that money would literally buy a castle where I live.

SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 18:28

I had a friend who lived there, their house was lovely.

Heruka · 03/09/2021 18:29

Looking at some of the others in the street which went for 250k in 1998, to 1.7mil now. Mental!

BarbaraofSeville · 03/09/2021 18:30

Going rate for the road. Looks like there's quite a history of people paying £1.5-£2M for those houses.

It has off street parking, which has to be worth something in London. I like the interior. It looks like someone has used a carefully chosen selection of second hand items, and some upcycling, that really works but if I tried to do it, it would look shit.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 03/09/2021 18:31

Jeez.

That would cost around 65k near me Grin but I know there is a massive difference between London and NE prices.

Still, even for London, that's batshit especially as they'd be taking the best part of it (the decor) with them.

Roonilwazlib1 · 03/09/2021 18:32

Wow - I'm not usually shocked at london house prices but I am by that one! I admit I'm completely unfamiliar with that area though.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 03/09/2021 18:32

It really is in a cracking location!

Why2why · 03/09/2021 18:34

Oh my. No way. Just to live in that postcode when I could buy a bigger house in an equally nice postcode with 30 mins commute to London? Hell no!

Im too practical to be that pretentious.

GreyhoundG1rl · 03/09/2021 18:37

Personally, no, I think it's awful. But it's Primrose Hill, so the price is understandable really.

EachandEveryone · 03/09/2021 18:37

Do you pay a fee for the communal lawns? Is it an ex council estate it looks similar to one near the Royal Free hospital.

HeronLanyon · 03/09/2021 18:38

Looks to me like older creative/s who live there. Location/parking/garage etc. I’d expect it to be around 1.5 or maybe 1.4.

This is what you get where I am. I recommend you all look in order to appreciate the good boy in picture three Smile

HalfBrick · 03/09/2021 18:45

I'd be embarrassed paying £1.7m for that.

CoronaPeroni · 03/09/2021 18:48

That's not a garden it's just a long balcony! Am shocked at the price. And it's 'in need of modernisation'! Dread to think what it would cost otherwise! Where do first time buyers go to live who are from those areas?

shouldbeworkingmore · 03/09/2021 18:49

Crazy & the fact that they were 200-300k in the 90s!

Chicchicchicchiclana · 03/09/2021 18:51

Another one here who is used to London house prices but that is completely insane! A house like that in my London postcode would be about half the price. I like the decor but would hate to live with a spiral staircase and a tiny terrace covered with a pathetic strip of astroturf!

Absolutely.

Also agree. Right to buy was a national disgrace. Lived through Tatcher - bloody hell it was a rough ride but at least we could see what was happening. Right now it’s all shadows and back rooms and old boys clubs. Sick of it.
