Who would pay nearly £2 mill for this house?

Well £1.7. I was just having my dreams of Belsize park when I saw this. Its exactly the same as the council house I was brought up in from the outside in the 1970s. No garden although it does look like a nice tidy little estate. Theres a lot of clutter I cant work out what type of people live there www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/110737514#/?channel=RES_BUY

I quite like it but my god the world's gone fucking mad

MrsKeats · 03/09/2021 19:33

That house in Cardiff is lovely.

SW1amp · 03/09/2021 19:34

That’s absolutely insane!

I live in an area where nice big terraces Victorian houses comfortably go for £2m+ and where there are houses of that style (usually infill houses built on the site on WW2 bombs) on the Victorian streets, they are £800-950k

That’s quite mad!

CoronaPeroni · 03/09/2021 19:36

The house that's practically on the railway track has bars on the downstairs windows. Rough area?

EachandEveryone · 03/09/2021 19:37

Its a Hampstead address though

That house in cardiff is within meters of the best school in the city (that's non private). Otherwise cardiff is generally not so expensive. Nice House, I'll by my lottery ticket (cardiff not london).

Absolutely no way not that I could ever afford it anyway.

madroid · 03/09/2021 19:43

I would genuinely prefer this one

Those prices are insane!

RiversideAnne · 03/09/2021 19:47

Bloody hell, London is a nightmare. You could buy a castle where I live for that.

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/09/2021 19:47

madroid
Yes, agreed. More reasonably priced and at least has some outside space and is near to battersea park.

Passmeamenuatthetottenham · 03/09/2021 19:47

The size of the kitchen! 😂

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/09/2021 19:51

Well they've certainly made the best of it. Looks lovely inside, just my style if I had more money.

Bathshebahardy · 03/09/2021 19:53

Is it really an ex Council house? It seems spacious, bedrooms are big and there's a garage.
Not all of London is that expensive, that's one of the most expensive areas. Many areas with a 30 minute commute to central london would be half that.

shouldbeworkingmore · 03/09/2021 19:53

Also interest rates were sky high at various times - I bought in 93 and 97

Property was still cheaper

shouldbeworkingmore · 03/09/2021 19:55

Just clicked on the Cardiff one, wow it's gorgeous! I want to move

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 03/09/2021 19:57

It’s a nice house and mid-century is much trendier than it once was. The overall location is great, but I wouldn’t particularly fancy being just off Avenue Road, which isn’t particularly nice - heavy traffic and big tower blocks.

NewHouseNewMe · 03/09/2021 19:58

I like it but am used to North London prices.
Great location, interesting 70s décor, car parking, garden. Tick x4.
In parts of central London, that price tag wouldn't get you a flat with a balcony. There's no point comparing to Cardiff or York.

MikeWozniaksMohawk · 03/09/2021 19:58

Can get a lovely 5 bed farm house with a separate 2 bed annexe, 100 acres of grazing land and 16 stables for that money where I am.

milveycrohn · 03/09/2021 19:59

Well, I wouldn't buy that house because of the open tread spiral staurcase. I would have to look into the feasability and expense of changing it.
Primrose Hill is expensive, I think. But that price seems like madness.

Antsinyourpanta · 03/09/2021 19:59

We lived in an ex council flat in London. It had really good sized rooms, a reasonable sized (for London) garden and OSP - it was probably bigger than the Victorian conversions in the same road that were double the price.

EachandEveryone · 03/09/2021 20:00

This is much nicer www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/112005680#/?channel=RES_BUY

Council houses were much bigger in those days and more solid. I remember the underfloor heating in our it was heavenly.

Council houses are known for being spacious, inside and out. Many were built to Parker Morris standards which specified good levels of space and storage.

We live in an ex council house. Our living room is large. The kitchen and bathroom are small, but the bedrooms are a decent size and the garden is huge. We also have a walk in pantry off the kitchen and a walk in cupboard in one of the bedrooms. There's also a brick 2 part out house

Antsinyourpanta · 03/09/2021 20:07

I much prefer that one ^
