... and my DDs primary school have still not told parents anything about the arrangements for next week.

We don't know:

  • What the arrival time is
  • What the end of day time is
  • If staggered starts / finishes remain
  • Where on the site to take our child
  • What the rules are for site access, mask wearing (we had to wear masks in the playground for pick up and drop off until the end of the summer term)
  • What can be brought in from home, or not.

I am lucky in that my working hours are fairly flexible but even so this is stressing me out.

Is it just me, or is this ridiculous?

They go back on Tuesday. Wouldn't be surprised if we got an email on Monday afternoon.

@SirSamuelVimes you are supposing that the DfE realise a number of schools are already back, they haven't always when they have produced guidance!

Some areas are being given special COVID status by the Government due to the number of cases in the area, so this may impact what schools are doing.

We got our email yesterday. Y7 went in today

YetAnotherWalk · 03/09/2021 14:47

Well we got an email yesterday at 9:30 after our kids started at 8:40...

lannistunut · 03/09/2021 14:49

I didnt get a text but my sister who doesn't have any kids at the school got the text. Grin

Same here OP. To add to the confusion several parents I'm in contact with have asked different staff members and all been given different answers as to what time they'll be starting on Monday and whether it's staggered starts. Website not updated and no responses from the head.

SirSamuelVimes · 03/09/2021 14:59

Email from school has just plopped into my inbox!

Their ears were burning @SirSamuelVimes

Mine go back Tuesday and I’ve still not heard anything, they usually send an email so I’m hoping it comes through today but will most likely be Monday!

BluebellsGreenbells · 03/09/2021 15:42

Heads are only just back in they have to have a heads meeting in the area to discuss what they intend to do and organize their school accordingly and inform staff

Usually the press put out the information at the same time heads are informed

It’s a bit mean to suggest they are disorganized!

You organize hundreds of staff and a school building to be covid read in a few days

PepsiHoover · 03/09/2021 15:47

Ours went back yesterday and we got the emails on Wednesday afternoon. To be fair, the staff weren't physically in the school until the Wednesday.

Our school are notorious for expecting parents to whip up a replica of the Sistine Chapel overnight. So I'm not surprised really.

W00t · 03/09/2021 15:49

Mine went back today, and we still haven't heard a peep from school Confused just went as usual.

DappledThings · 03/09/2021 16:11

We got the email last week but there wasn't much to update anyway really. Window when gates are open in am is 5 mins shorter, pick up is 10 minutes later and is now from gate rather than everyone walking through the playground.

Our school was pretty light touch on all this throughout though fortunately.

FoodIsOnMyMind · 03/09/2021 16:26

Our school website says no information available. We had email today for Monday..

TwoMountains · 03/09/2021 16:30

We haven’t had any emails, but there is information available on the school website.

grafittiartist · 03/09/2021 16:31

To be fair, the government do live last minute announcements- so heads probably want to hold out as long as possible.

wendz86 · 03/09/2021 16:33

We got an email Wednesday and they went back Thursday but we never had staggered times etc so wasn’t anything that would have effected us .

Abraxan · 03/09/2021 16:39

We sent our arrangements out on a letter at the end of the summer term. We emailed out a slight change plus a reminder that all details were on the previous letter earlier this week - children went back on Thursday. Calendar with INSET days was added to the calendar in the summer term. We still got people asking for the information on Wednesday and Thursday, saying they hadn't had it.

We are still using some of last year's guidance anyway, in,one with our LEAs current advice.

Is there anyone in the school office that you can call or email?

Mintjulia · 03/09/2021 16:40

4pm today, we received an email with all that information. Masks still to be worn on the school bus, LFTs twice a week for everyone, no bubbles as such but lunch will be served to individual year groups.

Pupils will still be required to spray desks/tables/chairs at the end of lessons, and supervised hand sanitising continues at 8.45 and before lunch. All PE will be outside.

So we'll see....

Abraxan · 03/09/2021 16:42

I've had to check the website for the uniform.

Wouldn't that be the normal place to look initially anyway, rather than a letter/email to tell people about basic information such as uniform?
Our website has the uniform requirements, along with a link to the supplier for any (optional) Logo'd clothes.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 03/09/2021 16:46

NDN is a teacher, they went back yesterday. Spoke to him Wed. He said there are problems because the Govt advice and the LEA advice are different, so the school seems to be picking and choosing the "best fit". Their first "All Staff" meeting was to be 2m socially distanced, in masks - outside weather permitting. Not seen him since to talk to but it was a dry morning, so I guess they held it in the playground or carpark.

Tinkerbellfluffyboots79 · 03/09/2021 16:48

We got ours a week before they went back so we could prep kids where they were going in etc. My son likes to know what’s happening and it helps him stay calm.
The day before is ridiculous I wouldn’t have been happy re that. If some schools are managing it in good time then others can too. Ours was half done last term then updated with new info the week prior to returning and sent out.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 03/09/2021 16:52

Is it not all on the website? We got our email at the end of last term, maybe you missed it?
I've noticed several parents asking when the kids go back on our schools FB page when the information is readily available.

Banani · 03/09/2021 17:16

Good point, we’re back Monday and haven’t had anything yet. We got an email at the end of term saying what they expected the arrangements to be, but said they’d be confirmation in September before term starts.

WinTheNight · 03/09/2021 17:21

Careful what you wish for OP. My child’s school has just in the last hour, sent through lots of info for the new school year. 3 emails so far, all with multiple attachments which I really can’t be arsed to read through to find the bits I’m interested in and actually need to know. 😬

Nope, I can in fact read. Nothing until the email this afternoon.

One child starting at school nursery here, and so far I’ve received a link to the new catering provider’s menu (not served at nursery) and details of where Y1-6 are to be collected at the end of each school day.

What I haven’t received is any info about the Microsoft Teams meeting I’m due to have with DD’s nursery teacher at 09.15 on Monday morning, in lieu of a home visit.
