I'm going to the theatre tomorrow and feeling anxious!

When I booked tickets I was so excited at the thought of things opening up again. But now it's tomorrow I feel really anxious at the thought of all these people close together in a confined space. We have to give evidence of 2 jabs or LFT before entry, which is good, but I haven't been close to more than about 6 people for 18 months! If I wasn't going with my friend I'd probably bail but she's not worried at all. What can I do to enjoy the evening without feeling anxious? Has anyone else been to a busy venue since things started opening again?

Wear a good mask, FFP2/n95 if possible with a tight seal around face.
Vaccines prevents severe disease not becoming infected nor transmitting covid

Yeah, lots, including the theatre, at 34 weeks pregnant. What are you going to see?

Have a big glass of wine to relax you.

I'm very jealous of you!

Just do antibac antibac antibac and mask.

I just came back from a long city weekend and tested negative.

Is it a general anesthetic or a local?

Don't worry too much! Grin

If it makes you feel better I've been running in a sweaty gym every day since July, tested twice per week, no covid. I think you're ok!

I was at the theatre in London tonight. it was like old times and like covid didn't exist. no one was wearing masks in the theatre, including queueing for drinks and ocecrams in the interval, and streets and tubes /trains were packed. it was quite nice to see the city buzzing again on one hand but worrying on another.

Thanks for the responses. I'm hoping there will be a good atmosphere, it's a comedian who I really like and hoping for lots of laughs instead of side-eyeing whoever I am sitting next to! I'm in two minds whether I should wear a mask though.

I've been to 8 or 9 London theatres since they reopened. None like IsItAllOverYetPlease's experience though. I'd say pretty much 90% of the audiences have worn masks at every show I've been to, though some theatres do more to enforce it than others. A lot of theatres have pre-ordering only for drinks and programmes, so no queueing at the bar/programme stand, some places the bar was closed, and I think all have had staggered entry times so not much queuing to get in, and some have one way systems around the theatre. So it hasn't felt like pre-covid times to me sadly, but I have felt pretty safe. Have a look on the website for the theatre you're going to and they'll probably give you an idea of what to expect re Covid procedures.

Just realised my reply was a bit late. Hope you had a good time OP and didn't feel too anxious.
