Light-hearted.
I came home from work once in the winter, my then DCS were 13 and 18, and they had arrived home about an hour before I did. As soon as I entered the house I realised it was in total darkness and both were saying they were glad I was home as we had a 'power cut'.
Instinctively I tried the light switch, and Voila! Power restored!
Turned out they had asked 'Alexa, turn on the downstairs lights' and when it hadn't reacted, they assumed a power cut. Literally didn't even think to try a light switch!
Another time, right at the start of all the talk of Brexit my then DS13 had a right rant one day along the lines of 'I am not doing it, and I will just hide it in my wardrobe anyway'. No idea what he was talking about and after some probing he had thought the country was voting to ban breakfast! His reasoning was along the lines of the word breakfast and weetabix was shortened to Brexit?! To be fair he is dyslexic so I can understand he may have done this. He was thrilled however to find out it wouldn't be illegal to eat co-co pops in the morning so a happy outcome
