I've won tickets to the goodwood revival which i've always wanted to go to ! Now I'm panicking about what to wear ! Any tips of anywhere I can go for clothes, i don't want to spend a fortune as money is very tight.

I wear a mix of vintage and retro to Revival and get most of my clobber on ebay. Try searching for Lindy Bop and that should bring up some retro/vintage lookalike dresses. There are a few similar brands. Real vintage stuff is tricky as it tends to come up small and can be expensive. You could also try vintage stores where you live if you have any.

Sadly Lindy Bop are gone now.

It depends what kind of vintage you are after OP. Did you want an authentic vintage look, or were you after a looser or more pin up style? The latter is usually easier to find and can be cheaper. Brands like Collectif, Hearts & Roses, Hell Bunny or Banned are good for that.

If you wanted more authentic then it depends on the decade you are aiming for, I'm loving the 40's style clothes from The House of Foxy at the moment.

I'm looking for 40's style and sexy !

If you happen to be local to Chichester the St Wilfrid's Retro shop is excellent for retro clothing. Have fun!

Check Top Vintage and Unique Vintage too. There's loads of great repro vintage brands out there.

Zapaka claim to do 40s (although not what I would recognise 40s tbh) and their prices are excellent. Haven't ordered from them so can't comment on quality. Might be worth a look.
Lindy Bop are indeed no more but their stuff is freely available as deadstock or secondhand on ebay.

@Madlymumming I'm in Worthing so not too far !

There's one in there that could maybe pass for 40's, the rest were much more 50s. I find that's a real issue when looking for 40's style clothes though. Search for 40's and get pages of circle skirts and new look style silhouettes.

Oh that's not too bad. It's near the market x

Sounds as though you like dressing up but don't worry if you don't find anything - lots of us don't bother.

overthethamesfromyou · 02/09/2021 19:18

You can do anything really from 40's to 70's, so you have a fair range to go for.
I always get so cold, so don't go too sexy as you'll be blue after about an hour Smile

I second this! There's also a retro clothes shop nearby.

I’m going too! Rummaged in charity shops my wardrobe and a costume hire place. Cobbled something together but worried my clothes are going to be too hot.

lollipoprainbow · 15/09/2021 21:05

@lissie123 yes I've cobbled together from charity shops hopefully I will look ok !!
