Has anyone been to Madeira recently? The regional govt website suggests you don't need a PCR test if you are fully vaccinated against Covid, but the rule before it states All passengers on flights from abroad must have a negative Covid 19 screening test. I am confused.

If you are double vaccinated there is no need for a pcr test.

@Ridleyxf

If you are double vaccinated there is no need for a pcr test.
You do need an LFT certificate though if flying from the U.K. . They will not let you in with an NHS vaccination certificate

You do need to be tested before you go. A friend was there a couple of weeks ago and had to take the test results with her. She is double vaccinated.

Sorry but you don't need to be tested if you are double vaccinated and coming from the Uk. It's what the rules say and, more importantly, I have done with just my vaccination certificate.

I wouldn’t be going to Madeira any time soon given the volcano eruption on La Palma

We are flying out on Friday.

You need to register on the madeirasafe website. This is kind of like the uk ‘passenger locator form’ - they want your flight details, contact details, where you’re staying madeira etc, and upload a copy of your vaccination certificate. If you’re not double vaccinated you need a pcr test, but this can either be done before you travel (and uploaded to the madeirasafe website) or you can have it done for free on arrival. If you have it done on arrival, you need to travel straight to your accomodation and isolate in your room until your result is sent to you - about 12 hours.
