So have a parcel to send overseas, slightly bulky so need to suck some air out to reduce size etc. Do you need special bags at all??

Put a tiny pin prick in it, then squash!

I've only ever done this with those vacuum pack bags from the nineties! They only work short term IME, as eventually they leak air. But they would work for a parcel.

Use a big freezer bag with a seal to pack it, squash it down and seal.

Yep stick a pin in, and roll it up to expell air, put some strong tape over pinhole

Roll it as tight as you can in a plastic bag, then wrap it tighter and tighter with a wide roll of tape. Pop air with a pin if necessary.
Did this with a duvet once, it didn’t expand in transit.
