I am in peri. .my hair has turned into a ball of frizz. what can I do? I have tried vinegar and it does help to a degree. its shoulder length, I am tempted to get it cut short. .but will it just be a small ball of frizz? tried frizz ease and various deep conditioning but none works. its getting embarrassing.

What is your hair look like? Naturally? Are you curly or wavy? Have you tried the curly girl method?

frizzmonster · 02/09/2021 07:33

It's was quite thick with a slight wave. now I am older it has thinned a bit. I don't always use shampoo just conditioner. ...The other problem I have is dandruff. .I am just drying out.

I have easily frizzed hair. It's expensive but I have resorted to kerasilk treatments at the hairdresser to keep it at bay. I would love to hear about some anti frizz products I could use at home that actually work.

frizzmonster · 02/09/2021 07:39

@Coffeeonmytoffee. I think I thought the cgm was just using conditioner. .I just looked it up and see that it really isn't ...I think I may try this

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor. Thanks I will look that up!

Coconut oil works for me, on semi-dry hair then finish off by brushing it through with hot air brush or just brush through and leave to dry.

JellyNo15 · 02/09/2021 07:45

I use Orlaplex products. They are expensive but you only need a tiny amount. My hairdresser is amazed at the change in my dry hair. People have even commented. I use the No3 bonding oil every other wash. I use the shampoo and conditioner but only wash my hair every four or five days. I used No6 and No7 on dry hair too occasionally.

BouncyMonk · 02/09/2021 07:46

Again, expensive but you could try olaplex no3. Not everyone gets on with it but I really rate it.

I have frizzy dry hair too. It makes your hair very soft and encourages the natural curls. Leave it on for as long as you can be arsed to get your money’s worth!

I joined a Wavy girl method group on Facebook. Seems frizzy hair can often be hiding lovely waves when handled with care!

Krook · 02/09/2021 08:16

Urgh no advice but can sympathise, mine is quite long and thick but has never frizzed before. Suddenly have all these frizzy bits sticking out at the top! Is this an age thing? Also in peri-men.

Whatliesbeneath707 · 02/09/2021 09:27

My once thick/strong & shiny hair has been ravaged by depleting thyroid & female hormones! It’s now like a nest of knotted candy floss. I feel I’m searching for the holy grail of smoothing treatments. I’ve just bought the Garnier banana treatments that someone recommended on another thread on here.
I have tried to treat it “internally” first by making sure vitamin B12 & ferritin levels are the best I can get them, but it is still fuzzy.

BikeRunSki · 02/09/2021 09:34

Wash it less often.
Silk pillowcase.
Only comb when wet, wide tooth comb
CGM

frizzmonster · 02/09/2021 19:10

Thank you all for your replies. I went yo work today and put in dome coconut oil.,which did help quite a lot! I have fully investigated the cgm abd have some products on order. I will be fully investigatin all the products recommended. .Thanks I have something to work on...also going to brave the hairdresser soon!

The Hershesons everything cream after each wash ( lasts ages as you don’t need much) leaves my hair soft with defined curls. www.hershesons.com/products/almost-everything-cream

CrystalMaisie · 03/09/2021 13:25

Oil may not work long term, as it can prevent water getting into the hair (hydrate it).
Wavy girl method is less strict than curly girl, and the products recommended not as heavy duty as those needed for the curly hair pattern 3a and above.

Returnoftheowl · 03/09/2021 14:31

I've found the shorter I cut mine the frizzier it goes, mine needs to be longer to weigh itself down.

Yes. .that's my fear! also @CrystalMaisie. I did wonder that!
Whatliesbeneath707 · 04/09/2021 13:52

Just a quick update - I’ve used the Garnier banana shampoo & treatments a few times now and they do seem to be working. My hair is less knotty/frizzy. I noticed they had other variations in the range too - a coconut one for frizz, so that might be worth a go next. It’s fairly cheap too - about £3.00 - £3.50 per product in the supermarkets.

frizzmonster · 09/09/2021 14:07

update! following the cgm ...its a revelation! my hair had gone curly not frizzy. ,The difference was immediate, and wierdly my dandruff had disappeared . Thank you all for your help

What is CGM? Sounds like something I might need to know about....!

silkmonkey · 09/09/2021 14:15

Oh I've just googled!
What products are you using? Sounds like my hair (and age!) is similar.

frizzmonster · 09/09/2021 14:17

curly girl method. .loads of stuff available about how to do it. too much as I got very confused! in the end I just ordered from these people
curlygirlmethod.club/

it's honestly made such a difference. .I was getting embarrassed to leave the house...no more!

I don't know if these products in particular will suit you..but I believe the cgm works
