What takeaway would you like but can't get where you live?

DH just ordered a Chinese takeaway...and I'm sat here thinking how much I would love some sushi delivered Blush

We live in a small country town where there is a chinese, pizza and kebab shop.

Which speciality takeaway would you love to be able to order but can't, either because it isn't available anywhere or just not in your location?

Just for the Chinese to deliver would be good (they don't alas), I would like Nepalese, Afghan, decent Turkish/Lebanese ... all available where I used to live

@WinterCarlisle

My small town has a Caribbean/African takeaway but we have to order 24 hours ahead and collect not delivery, it's out of someone's apartment near me and delicious. I learned to make the peanut stew I could buy where I used to live

Nigerian or Ghanaian. We used to be able to but not anymore Sad. I crave jollof rice, fried plantain, yam balls and shito.

I can make a passable jollof and my plantain is pretty good but it still isn’t quite the same.

Same here! And yam and omelette
Constantcrayfish · 01/09/2021 23:40

You can’t move for saveloys in the north east, pet. The saveloy dip is a speciality.

We used to be in London and had pretty much whatever we wanted. We now live in the Channel Islands and it’s woeful. No good chippies even. The good thing is that our takeaway spend has virtually disappeared.

SolitaryTree · 01/09/2021 23:40

I’d love there to be a falafel king close by 😋

TonytheDog · 01/09/2021 23:49

Anything. Anything at all. I can't even get a cheese sandwich or a raw potato delivered. It's very sad. I look at take away menus to see what I could have had. And I sometimes even add things to my basket in a kind of 'fantasy take away' way. Then I slope of to the kitchen and cry.

Same! I've often spent some time putting in postcodes into just eat imaging what I'd order if I lived in those locations and I didn't live in the arse end of nowhere! I have no life
Hillary17 · 01/09/2021 23:54

We live in a small village, can’t even get a chinese! So that would be a nice start. Mostly Five Guys though!

LBOCS2 · 02/09/2021 00:01

So, we live in South London and there is very very little that we can't get. Sushi, five guys, Wagamama, Lebanese, Nigerian, Vietnamese, you name it.

But WHY has no one worked out how to transport soup noodles? I have bought pho, and ramen, and Tom yum. Repeatedly, in a triumph of hope over experience. They just don't travel well, at all, ever. So that's my plea - I just want noodles, in a broth, that aren't flooby.

TonytheDog · 02/09/2021 00:04

K8le me too! I check Deliveroo/Just Eat periodically in the vain hope I'll find something, anything I can have delivered.

userxx · 02/09/2021 00:08

Parmo. So want to try one, know I'd probably feel hideous after eating it but I'm willing to give it a go.

DrCoconut · 02/09/2021 00:09

Gluten free Chinese. I'm not aware of one closer than 2.5 hours away Sad

YerAWizardHarry · 02/09/2021 00:11

Agree with sushi, we can only get Yo on Deliveroo (which is fine really) or otherwise it’s a case of pre ordering and collecting on a specific evening which I always think is a bit of a faff. Can get mostly anything else although there is definitely a new influx of Nando’s style chicken places

egglette · 02/09/2021 00:18

Sushi and burritos - one thing I miss living in the city!

Penguin82 · 02/09/2021 00:30

Ugh basically anything. Sushi or Indian would be amazing. Live in the Falkland islands... 😫

ISpyCobraKai · 02/09/2021 00:33

YO delivery doesn't do hot dishes, or at least it doesn't in Glasgow which is crap because it means no takoyaki.

sprinkleyumnut · 02/09/2021 00:45

I would love a Toby carvery or Harvester in my town. I would also love five guys restaurant. Nothing exotic for me thanks

FlowersinJune · 02/09/2021 00:55

Burritos

Greek food (particularly Gyros)

Good Turkish food (proper kebabs)

Redsquirrel5 · 02/09/2021 01:01

Anything, we live in a village the nearest is 5 mile away and no deliveries out here.

MouseholeCat · 02/09/2021 01:06

I'm in the US in a city with a population of around 120,000. I can't get Indian food delived. Pre-pandemic there were 3 Indian restaurants but none delivered to our part of the city, now there's just one and it's eat in only.

That's pretty much the only major cuisine we can't get though.

CorvusPurpureus · 02/09/2021 01:20

Balti. Or good vegetarian curry generally! With a huge, pillowy garlic naan.

I'm in the ME & curry hasn't travelled well. Everything is 75% salty, greasy sauce, & either completely bland, or totally dominated by chilli & nothing else. & if it's vegetarian, it's frozen mixed veg tipped into the sauce to warm through.

Id kill for pulses, fresh veg & paneer zinging with actual spicey flavour.

YanTanTethera123 · 02/09/2021 04:29

Any takeaway would be good here!
The nearest is 8 miles away.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 02/09/2021 05:00

Malaysian, Vietnamese, Korean, Sushi, Mexican…

Standard fare here is pizza/kebab joints, ‘traditional’ Chinese, and the odd Indian delivery.

I would love a little more variety, or just some less mediocre offerings of what we already have.

Ho hum.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 02/09/2021 05:04

I live in London so can get pretty much any cuisine but I wish we had munchy boxes here!!! Is that what they're called? A pizza box with a bit of everything from the Chinese. Also I'd love to try a parm. Never seen one only heard about them.

Hothammock · 02/09/2021 05:10

Thai
Technically I can order Thai but it is so disgusting and watery I can't eat it. I wish there was a decent Thai in my area.
