What takeaway would you like but can't get where you live?

DH just ordered a Chinese takeaway...and I'm sat here thinking how much I would love some sushi delivered Blush

We live in a small country town where there is a chinese, pizza and kebab shop.

Which speciality takeaway would you love to be able to order but can't, either because it isn't available anywhere or just not in your location?

Japanese, Vietnamese, and Greek. I miss city living!

Our town has a lot of lovely restaurants for its size, but if you want takeaway, you either have to collect to pay by card, or have cash if you want delivered. One takeaway offers an order online service Grin An Ubereats or Deliveroo, offering more choice, would obviously be the takeaway dream.

I realise this is a first world problem alert, though.

We live very centrally and we have Ubereats / Deliveroo / JustEat etc but nowhere seems to do a decent roast dinner option? Some Sunday's I'd kill for a good roast I don't have to cool but I guess they don't transport well / aren't financially viable.
Lots of pubs/garden centre cafes will do a takeout roast if you ask but won’t advertise it widely.

If you find one you like locally it’s worth asking.

Wagamama

TBH I am v v lucky - can get sushi, Thai, chinese, Indian, cakes, ice cream/waffles etc, roast dinners, Italian, and the best burgers I've ever tasted plus more I probably can't think of!

aureliacotta · 01/09/2021 21:42

Oh and Jamaican!! I used to live down the road from a place that did the best plantain. I sometimes still salivate about that when I've got a hangover...

NotMyCat · 01/09/2021 21:42

Oh I forgot Greek and Caribbean Grin

Roominmyhouse · 01/09/2021 21:43

Bao buns or tacos. We do have a Mexican restaurant that delivers but it’s not great.

PeonyTime · 01/09/2021 21:44

Lebanese.
DS1 would love Sushi.

Mamainthemaking · 01/09/2021 21:45

Why oh whyyy can’t you get saveloys up North!? Wish I’d known this before I moved up here lol.

During lockdown, Blackstock did a Sunday roast at home kit for delivery. It was amazing!! I just checked and they don't do it anymore sadly.

If you live near a branch though, they do Deliveroo but I'm assuming you're not near a branch.

Sushi, Vietnamese or Malaysian!

cushioncovers · 01/09/2021 21:49

Chinese delivery

Margaritawithlime · 01/09/2021 21:50

Vietnamese. I’d sell my soul for decent pho Sad DH bought me a viet cookbook so I can slave all day and try to make it myself. I don’t hold onto hope.

Happy36 · 01/09/2021 21:50

Would love Spanish food, specifically jamón ibérico, Manchego (cured), bread with tomato, jamón croquetas, a very runny tortilla de patatas, some guindillas or Padrón peppers, a tomato salad with bonito on olive oil, 'Russian' salad with breadsticks, Galician octopus...that'll probably do for now.

Health issues mean I can't eat any of these things at this moment. :(

Elverybaby · 01/09/2021 21:51

A good Indian.

Lucky enough to have a fabulous Thai and Lebanese nearby. And good chippers.

All the chippys in County Durham do them - how 'North' do you mean?
Mumwithapub · 01/09/2021 21:56

Certain Chinese in Prestatyn was the best I ever come across working and living all over the UK.

Fluffyandsilly · 01/09/2021 21:56

I live relatively centrally in East London. I can get almost any cuisine I fancy. However I struggle to get a really good curry!
They are nowhere near as good as the Indian restaurants in the midlands where I’m from.

Libraryghost · 01/09/2021 21:56

Caribbean or Lebanese. We have Indians and Chinese galore..
