What takeaway would you like but can't get where you live?

DH just ordered a Chinese takeaway...and I'm sat here thinking how much I would love some sushi delivered Blush

We live in a small country town where there is a chinese, pizza and kebab shop.

Which speciality takeaway would you love to be able to order but can't, either because it isn't available anywhere or just not in your location?

Ha! Scottish Borders. No one delivers anything.
Never had a Nandos. No Just Eat / Deliveroo etc. Nothing.
There is a chippy with deep fried Pizza or Mars Bar option though...

PricklesTheHedgehog · 01/09/2021 21:59

Definitely sushi. 🐟

disculpe · 01/09/2021 22:01

Don't live in the UK - we can get Chinese and Indian food where we are but it's nothing like the Indian/Chinese food we can get in the UK. It's pretty dire! Just shows how much of those takeaways are made to cater to a particular countries taste. We can get a lot of American brands like Shake Shack, Hooters, Cheesecake Factory etc, plus plenty of Mexican and South American food - but that's never what I really crave. I just want a chicken tikka pathia, keema rice and a saag aloo but there's no chance of that here! Or popadoms 😭😭😭

I would love a take-away Thai. We have an amazing Turkish place locally in our village, plus numerous chinese and indian takeaways.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 01/09/2021 22:10

Indian. We have Chinese, pizza or McDonald's here.

Twilight7777 · 01/09/2021 22:10

Sushi, i love sushi but nothing nearby, I live in a small village and we have limited options too, pizza Chinese, kebab or Indian, literally that’s it.

OhWhyNot · 01/09/2021 22:14

In-N-Out burger Smile ok a bit far

Five Guys

Good Mexican. But good restaurant fairly close (but not take away close)

TottieMarchpane · 01/09/2021 22:16

I live in a city, so I'm lucky in that I can get most things, but would love a good pho.

And actually, a lot of the time I want something healthy (especially when I'm trying to lose weight), and there are not a lot of options for that either.

ISpyCobraKai · 01/09/2021 22:17

Japanese
Vietnamese
Mexican
Decent Thai
Decent burgers.

Basically anything out of the norm.
Dd is 40 minutes up the road and can get everything as she's near Central Glasgow.

TigersandTeddybears · 01/09/2021 22:18

Nando's, McDonald's, Jamaican/Caribbean food, Mexican

OnceTheyDid · 01/09/2021 22:24

Can get every type of cuisine within a few miles here in North London but I don't like the Chinese round here.

Why oh whyyy can’t you get saveloys up North!? Wish I’d known this before I moved up here lol.
I’m in West Yorkshire and buy them in Sainsbos ^

@Hoppinggreen yeeeah we can get them in Sains too, but it’s not the same if they haven’t been sitting in brine under a hot lamp for 6 hours!! 😅 chip shop ones just taste different!! 🤤

NeonJellyBaby · 01/09/2021 22:28

We’re pretty lucky here we’ve got Indian, Chinese, Thai, Dominos, Pizza Hut, Pappa Johns, KFC etc what we don’t have is a proper Sushi place and I love sushi!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/09/2021 22:30

Not a takeaway, but a specific dish - my favourite dish from the Chinese takeaway is chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce - but none of our local takeaways does it - I live outside Glasgow, and the only place I’ve found it was a takeaway near ds3’s student flat in his third year.

Returnoftheowl · 01/09/2021 22:31

Japanese or Vietnamese

All the chippys in County Durham do them - how 'North' do you mean? ^

@Slub I live in North Wales. I have tried to get one in Liverpool & Manchester and was told by one chip shop owner I won’t find any North of Birmingham 😭

I always get four when I go home to London to make up for it 😂

bluechameleon · 01/09/2021 22:44

Caribbean and Mexican

Frannibananni · 01/09/2021 22:56

Hungarian Langos. I’ve been known to drive 90min to get one, now we nearly 3 hours from them and they are only in food trucks on certain nights.

K8le · 01/09/2021 22:59

All of them Grin miss a chippy and an Indian the most though.

GrouchyKiwi · 01/09/2021 23:05

NZ fish and chips. UK ones are just not the same. And they're fecking expensive.

(I also miss Kiwi ice cream.)

ExtremelyDisorganised · 01/09/2021 23:08

KFC. We've got Chinese, Indian, Thai, pizza and chips within 10 mins walk so very easy for takeaways but the nearest KFC is 10 miles away.

Vanuatu · 01/09/2021 23:15

Mexican
Carribean
Greek
Luckily we have an amazing Indian restaurant and a great chippy.

MargaretMorris · 01/09/2021 23:16

Good Mexican. Nowhere to be found.

Swap you for an IHOP, or better yet, a Cracker Barrel! We planned several road trips round those. 😳

There’s a new sushi place opened up near here, my dh is not keen, but I’d love to try it.
