Bottom third of garden being de-jungled and 'given' to 8 year old. What to put there?

He has a trampoline so that will go there and there will be enough space for some kind of swing/climbing frame type thing (around 4m x 4m).

What would you recommend that will get a good few years' use?

Don’t de-jungle it too much. As well as their trampoline and climbing frame ours loved the most jungly bit of our garden. They spent hours cutting paths with secateurs, building dens and making chairs and tables out of logs etc. Play house and sandpit got a lot of use too.

Also a hammock or swing chair is great as well as a space for a tent.

Too shady for veggies but I like the idea of keeping some of it a bit wild. When we were clearing some yesterday, DS was climbing under the branches of one tree and saying it could be his den so that could definitely be a part of it. Smile Tent is a good idea too, we have tons of branches/small logs that could be used to make stools, tables and the poles for hanging sheeting.
