Deleted WhatsApp chat by mistake

Does anyone know how to get it back please? Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't work despite the site saying that is what I need to do. I've recently back up so there should have been something coming back even if not very recent messages. Can anyone please help as the site and online chat are not helping in anyway.

Also, the photos sent via whatsapp aren't showing in my gallery. I have media settings on and have restarted my phone twice.

I know I can get the photos to show in my gallery, I just can't remember how!

If you have an android phone try looking in Google photos.

Thanks. That didn't work either. It is so frustrating as this has happened before and dh fixed it but he can't remember how. Google suggestions aren't working or I can't do them.

When was your most recent backup? If it’s before the chat was deleted you should be able to at least partially restore it but might lose more recent messages. Disclaimer - I actually have zero tech skills. Good luck.

It was definitely recently enough that there should have been something come back given one of the two people I have deleted I'd get a message off most days. Tbh I'm Mose upset about the photo situation. They should be showing in my gallery. I just took a photo to test and that one is showing but the one I want that was sent to me via WhatsApp isn't.

I've just pressed what I think must be a download butting on the photo and it is in the gallery. I just need someone to WhatsApp me a photo to test. Thanks.

A different issue but I'm finding names missing from my contacts and it doesn't show online when chatting. Wonder if there is an issue with whatsapp.

Re photos mine always go into google photos even if not in gallery. I empty gallery quite often and then realised they still save separate to google photos so I have millions to delete there!
