out of date fresh salsa - safe to eat?

so I bought some salsa which must've been just next to it's use by date on Sunday or Monday. 28th August.

Will it kill me if I eat it or best not to? Can't be arsed taking it back to Sainsburys for out of date refund. And I'd like the salsa!

also got cottage cheese with use by of 31st August but had some today and that should be ok for tomorrow?

Is it sealed, if so has the plastic/lid expanded?

If no expansion, does it smell ok.

If it passes those tests I'd eat it.
