Got thinking about this after reading another thread about a boyfriend asking.

I have no idea. Is that really bad? Lots is my ballpark guess.

I hate that women still need to be coy about sexual partners.
Do lesbians judge the numbers harshly? (I mean in general nalalt etc)

This makes me sad. I don't think a high number is sexual partners equals attractiveness. Quite the opposite sometimes - I think some insecure people seek reassurance by having sex. Certainly a lot of people I know behaved like this when we were all younger.

Inhad one relationship of about 10 years that was virtually sexless. We had sex about 6 times in total! It ended about 10 years ago.

I've made up for that since but haven't had another relationship. I'm not interested in having one. It's nothing to do with insecurity or lack of attractiveness and I turn down far more men that I ever accept.

Both of these things are true. Some women/girls have sex because they want it and enjoy it and are safe

But from experience I can say I was that insecure girl as a teen who was pressured into things and did things to make me feel attractive/get ' friends' or whatever. Would never have admitted it at the time though

We should never label women as insecure but it's still important to acknowledge sometimes people do sexual things for the wrong reasons and it can be damaging to oneself

This! My number is relatively small (6) as I met my now DH when I was in my early 20s. I wish I'd been a bit more wild when I had the chance

I think it's somewhere between 50 and 60. I couldn't name them all. I'm not ashamed thpugh. Now happily married abd haven't looked at another man in years

I sort of lost count, but with an idea after a 14 year relationship with the father of my 3 sons, he was so possessive I couldn't breath, I met him at 21 and managed to finally grow strong and leave at 35. I went a bit wild for a while, had a couple of short term relationships. Wouldn't contemplate bringing anyone into my childrens lives, so things never worked out. Not sure if my childhood or my ex had broken me, was never happy. But then I decided the reason I couldn't do any type of relationship was that I was crap at them, way to selfish and was unable to trust. I've been celibate for 5 years now, age 50 and so much happier than ever. I was rampant, lived for orgasms, but now I'd rather read a good book, don't miss it at all.

Five that I will openly admit to and I can name them as they were in long-term relationships. But my real number is probably at least double if I am honest with myself but I'm not proud of them. I have erased their names and faces from my memory. They were mainly one-night-stands, drunken mistakes and like others have mentioned, a couple of scenarios where I felt pressured into it and maybe now it could be classed as rape but back in the 1970's it was fairly normal pushy male behaviour and I was too polite to say no!

I did have a boyfriend that asked me that question once and he got really huffy when I said not enough. I told him he shouldn't ask that question any way as it was nothing to do with him and if he was insistent on knowing about my sex life I would like to point out that he wasn't my favourite lover. In fact he wasn't even in the top 10.

That relationship didn't last, I'm not surprised to say!
