What great relationship advice did you ignore, and it worked out really well?

My DP and I have been together for about a year and I'm reminiscing about the first time we told each other that we loved each other. It was during sex, which everybody says is a terrible way to say it for the first time. But for us it was really perfect and lovely and we both meant it. He said it first. We had been skirting round it for a few weeks so both knew it was coming, but we were basically at it one night when he said "I fucking love fucking you...actually, if I'm honest, I really love you" 🤣

What common relationship advice have you ignored but it worked out well?

When I started seeing my boyfriend- I told an older bloke who I like and respect and was chatting with that he was really good looking. The bloke said oh forget about him - he’ll love himself. Much as I respect this bloke I totally ignored this advice and it’s turned out to be the best relationship I’ve ever had. My boyfriend’s confident, straightforward and doesn’t play games
