1yo fell face down - will it scar?

Last Friday my little one fell face down and scraped his nose and upper lip.
He now has a scab all over. It looks similar to when you fall over, hurt your knee and it forms a scab.
I feel terrible as he’s been so sad and down ever since and just wondering if it will scar?

My baby had this at about 14 months - scraped her nose and it turned into one massive scar. I was religious about keeping it out of the sun (it was May so DD was in massive floppy hat all summer) and moisturised it a little. There was a mark for a good few months but now at 3.5 there’s no trace of it.

*scab not scar!!

Thank you @Jujujuly
Do you remember how long it took for the scab to fall off? It’s quite thick on his nose and I haven’t touched it since he fell.
Will be giving him a warm bath today and start moisturising so hopefully that will help.

I don't think so. I wondered this, my little boy was about 6 months old and pulling himself up to standing then falling. We were at Center Parcs foe the weekend and he somehow managed to impale his forehead, just above His nose, on one of those sockets with an aerial / games console input which sticks out of the wall socket - he literally had circles cut into his forehead it was awful - it took a few months but he was fine. He's 9
Now and no sign of anything at all
Good luck!

My DD has three facial scars. All from deep cuts needing glueing/stitching. Normal scrapes fine.

CampervanQueen · 31/08/2021 09:46

My DC did this at nearly 2. Fell off a wall and scraped his nose badly. He had a scar for maybe a year or so, but at 6 it's gone.

Oh, and another incident when he was 4 when he fell and cut his forehead on a chair which needed glue stitches. That is just about still visible but gradually disappearing.

@Mzbala sorry I can’t remember how long it took the scab to come off. DD wouldn’t tolerate a plaster on it though - kept picking at it - so I’m sure the scab didn’t last long.

Thank you all. I guess I will give it a few more weeks and see how it is when the scab eventually comes off.
