What are your favourite games to play at a table with teens

We sometimes play card games after dinner at the table if we are away. We usually take a couple of board games too. I'm now looking for recommendations of games that don't take up much space and can be played with a couple of teens after dinner. So not monopoly or big board games! Any you have enjoyed?

Coup, Love Letter and Skull are the three we take to the pub with our teens. Coup is hands down favourite.

Re proper board games the Pandemic Legacy games have been a huge hit.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 30/08/2021 15:09

Mexican Trains
Bananagrams
Catan (but that involves a board)
Boggle

RagzReturnsRebooted · 30/08/2021 15:10

We got Shot In The Dark for my birthday. It's like a quiz but the kind of questions where you just have to take a wild guess. Mine all enjoyed it (ages 11,14,15).

ChateauMargaux · 30/08/2021 15:15

Second Shot in the Dark and also Cast Quest. Much hilarity with both.

RovenderKitt · 30/08/2021 15:19

We have travel Qwirkl for the caravan. Also enjoy a card came called Murder on the Dance Floor that dd got last Xmas. It’s essentially Cluedo with cards

Pearbear · 30/08/2021 15:25

Qwirkle is good fun I have the travel version that is a small bag.
5 second rule is another fun, easy game
I’ve just rediscovered Othello which I loved as a child, it’s a game for 2 players

KittyMcKitty · 30/08/2021 15:27

Bananagrams! Brilliant we play it loads after supper

Boriswentcamping · 30/08/2021 15:40

Ooh following, we love ticket to ride but it's a proper board game not a card game... going to try some of these suggestions though.. Smile

GlamourSpider · 30/08/2021 15:45

King of Tokyo
Love Letter
Hit Z Road

Think @AmyDudley may be thinking of Where Is Moldova? (tho I never actually played it myself so may be wrong)

We like Mah-jongg - skill involved but also luck so who wins is never a given (we skip the part of the scoring that involves adding the difference to the winner though, it was getting ridiculous).
Scrabble (when H can be persuaded)
Canasta
Trivial Pursuit ("that's not history I remember that")
Newmarket

SBAM · 30/08/2021 16:53

I haven’t played with teens recently, but adult siblings and my parents. I’ve recently played ‘just one’ which is fun, and you could always just take the cards and use paper instead of the whiteboards to really make it travel friendly.
We also like selfish, space team and linkee.

AmyDudley · 30/08/2021 17:17

Oh just remembered Boggle as well - that's fairly compact. We played that a lot one holiday - but DD kept annihilating me and I threw my toys out of the pram lost interest.Grin

weegiemum · 30/08/2021 17:21

Flux - we especially like the Monty Python version

Cards Against Humanity (our youngest is 17!!)

Uno - have been known to play it for hours!

2bazookas · 30/08/2021 17:23

Quirkle. Our entire family is addicted to it, all ages.

It looks terribly simple to play (and is) but tactics are all.

itssarcasmjoan · 30/08/2021 17:24

Bananagrams

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 30/08/2021 17:26

Cards against humanity
Exploding kittens
The Fame Game
Outsmarted

Benjispruce5 · 30/08/2021 17:27

DD(20) taught us a game last week. It’s called Arrogance and you need no cards, paper etc. A player chooses a category to list from i.e characters from Friends or chemical elements depending on their choice but they keep it to themselves and state the number they can name so say, 6.They challenge you to give a number higher or reply ‘arrogance’ at which point they have to name that number from the category. We had fun with that.

fizbosshoes · 30/08/2021 17:28

I've got tween /teens. The younger one loves monopoly but no one else does they are not keen on scrabble. They like Dobble but DH wont play
However we do like scattergories, (potentially take the lists, timer and dice and just use a notepad) taboo, dont panic, and brain master. We do have balderdash (from my childhood) but I'm pretty sure the 11 year old would struggle with that, so we havent tried it yet.

mamaduckbone · 30/08/2021 17:35

Sushi Go
Exploding Kittens
Unstable Unicorns
Throw throw Burrito
and good old Uno still gets an outing now and then

samlovesdilys · 30/08/2021 17:40

Uno and rummy, rummikub, tp are all played...but the favourite this year has been poker!! Bought a set from Amazon and both teenage boys love it!!

Pallisers · 30/08/2021 17:43

we have such a laugh with Cards Against Humanity (and Bards against Humanity and Memes against humanity).

Articulate is good too.

We do like a good card game of 45 too.

BIWI · 30/08/2021 17:45

Pass the Bomb is great - and there's also a travel version.

Chameleon is one we played this weekend, and that's really good - will take up a very small amount of space once you take the bits out of the (unnecessarily large) box!
