Grin

I sent my driving license reapplication in early June and just received a letter to return my documents and say it has been passed to the medical assessment team.

Anyone else had to wait for a license from the medical team and how long did it take?

Been waiting longer than that for mine, DVLA don’t answer the phone.
Email replies due to confidentiality it can only be discussed by phone. Can’t get through on the phone. Waaaa

My husband had a mild heart attack in October last year. It took 9 months for him to get a medical for DVLA sorted. We are still waiting for that paperwork to be processed and for a final letter and new licence from DVLA.

I have a 3 yr medically restricted license. It's up end of Sept. and I've just sent the application back to renew. There is no hope I. Getting it back any time soon.

From what I can remember, your license, despite being out of date, is still valid as long as you have reapplied. I'm slightly worried that now they have such a backlog that they won't have a record that I HAVE reapplied if the paperwork hasn't been even touched/opened. I'm going to get proof of postage I think...

Ahhh ok, I’ve been wondering if there are delays.
We got a personalised reg so sent our log books to be changed. One month on we haven’t had the log books back.

It also depends on how fast your medical team get the information back so one of mine about four years ago took months and months whilst another a couple of years ago was much faster.

If you are renewing your license on medical reasons you may be able to drive if your dr gives permission to do so - I always ask for it to be documented. assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/695575/inf188x6-can-i-drive-while-my-application-is-with-dvla.pdf

@MaybeAMoaner www.gov.uk/guidance/dvla-coronavirus-covid-19-update This is the dates they are allegedly working on. I don't think they are true though. It should be updated some time today.
