Why do I have such a wierd attachment to socks?

So we have too many socks. Way to many socks. They are old, holey, and mismatched. So ds, ever the practical one, said let's buy a distinctive set for each person (it's a bit of a lottery now as because we have too many they are stored in a big basket and we just sock dive) then throw out all the old ones.

Sounds good. Except having gone through the pile for the first proper time in years I realise I am having trouble letting go. HmmConfused

Why am I attached to these socks?! Even ones i know have holes or no matching?!

Go and have a cuppa and watch a programme/ you tube about decluttering.
Hopefully it will inspire you and push away niggling doubts and decision fatigue.
Consider donating pairs in good condition to Afghan refugees or a homeless charity.

We have decluttered most of the house in the last week or so due to me having rare time off. Reorganised the house in a major way. I haven't had trouble before this. It's so wierd.
There are those jump socks from family days out to trampoline parks, which are too small for anyone. Toddler socks yes it has been years, i now have teens socks from my mum who lives overseas that were worn once or twice and due to his ridiculously huge and weirdly pointy feet got holes on the second wear! Personally having the smallest feet in the house I wear anyone's and am not fussed about matching, and nor do my kids care about matching, except dd, so I can't tell why this is such an issue.
It is literally one of the last jobs on the list!
(And we now have a lovely sock drawer thing for everyone)

I love socks and because of my sensory/tactile preferences, I always wear at least two pairs. Sometimes as many as four! People think I'm mad, but I don't care. My feet are warm and comfortably cushioned.

As soon as they get holes though, they're relegated to dusters. I can't stand holey socks!

Fold them all up in pairs like this. You won't necessarily need to throw any away and it feels so satisfying to do.

[/quote] Hmm. Maybe. Looks like it takes time tho and I am now quite adept at throwing spare and odd socks into the bucket Grin

I have made progress however. After procrastinating by tidying the garden and cleaning the kitchen the socks are now all in a black bag. And the new socks are in their drawers. Now I just need to throw the bag out rather than just in case I find the other half of that favourite pair thay has a hole in it
