Hotels in Italian Lakes?

We’ve never been to the Italian lakes before, and (optimistically) want to book for early next summer holidays. Do people have any recommendations please? For DH, my parents and two DC aged 4 and 9. Looking for child friendly luxury, if that’s not an oxymoron!

We like to eat dinner out rather than in the hotel so within walking distance of town centres but want the hotel to have great amenities like kids friendly pool

Would also like to be able to do day trips

Are the Lakes the right sort of location for this type of holiday? My parents really love Italy so keen to go somewhere in that country

Thank you

Try Bellano (name of the town, not hotel).
It's the nearest lake town from my village in Italy and is great for DC days out - there's the lido (outdoor pool and little beach on the lake) and 'L'Orrido' - some caves/waterfall things that are interesting to wander round, a street market once a week.

It's also about 10x cheaper than staying in Varenna or Bellagio (both also on lake Como).

Hotel San Marco in Peschiera del Garda was good when we stayed a few years back. At the southern end of lake Garda. Quite a small, basic hotel but does have a pool and close to the town and a beach for swimming.
Gardaland and Movieland close by too if they're your thing

Hotel Excelsior la Terreza l think it was called in Garda Town.
Lots of restaurants in walking distance all overlooking the lake, near the bus stop to Verona and just a beautiful little town.
I would go again tomorrow!
