Hi ladies
When my boys were 9 and well meaning relatives used to buy them presents that were too young for them I thought I'd never forget what kids were into at certain ages - and yet here I am - with 2 lads over 20 and I haven't a clue what to buy my 9 year old niece. I would really appreciate suggestions of what to buy - I usually spend £20.

Usually if I ask what she's into I'm told she has enough of whatever the current trend is (eg - she really loved Sylvanian families but she had enough sets etc)

Would like to buy her a present that is really relevant for her age - she's a very clever and smart cookie - grown up for her age.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!

Surely you know what she's interested in? What her hobbies are?

My daughter likes the middle school & dork diaries books. Fidgets & poppets are popular. A voucher for Claire’s or smiggle would go down well.
There was another thread about gift ideas for nine year old girls a few weeks ago.

Mine love sewing kits, books, paint by numbers (not the toddler kind!), science kits, lego and Harry Potter.

I teach 9 year olds and they really aren't a homogeneous group! What one would love- another wouldn't!
Some are aspiring teens and would love make-up, fake nails, lashes etc.
Some are creatives and appreciate good quality art supplies- good felt tips or pencils.
Some love their cuddly toys.
Some love pop-its and colourful crap.

My children loved getting cash by the time they were 9 or 10. They had the joy of receiving the money and feeling grown up and rich, the joy of going shopping and they actually got what they wanted in the end. Win win all round!

Rubik’s cube, or a game (monster mayhem madness or Qwirkle both popular in this house).
