Painful sugar like 'crystals' under skin in Feet ?

I have developed, in the last 3 months, weird 'crystals' in my feet.
Really painful to walk on, like little knives. Can feel the lumps inside.
Mostly along the outer 1/3 edge of both feet.
Those nearest the surface of the skin are still deep enough to need a really good squeeze to try to get out after a bath (yak, sorry!).
They look like 2/3 grains of sugar stuck together. Completely clear.
No smell or 'tail' to them, just small hole in sole after. It's not hard skin as they are inside my feet.

I spoke to the GP who said 'either verrucas or warts' but they are not.

My circulation is poor, and I have extremely low iron (7ug/L) that I'm waiting on IV to correct. Otherwise I know my Magnesium is high.

Any ideas please? they hurt on mobilising & enough to wake me up?

Gout? Has your GP seen you in person or did he/she assess over the phone? Diet and medication can help if it is gout, but you'd need your GP to assess you first.

I was going to say uric acid build up (gout). There are videos on the Internet of this being squeezed out....look at The Toe Bro for example.

Can you see a chiropodist? They might be able to identify the issue.

Crystals in your feet is a thing. If you can afford it, a reflexologist can 'crack' them for you, as part of the treatment.

Weirdly I have just developed similar pain on the outer edge of my left foot. It is on the outside edge of my heel so I can't even see it. It feels like a blister but it isn't and I have poked around and now have what feels like a little hole there. I don't know if it the same thing as you have OP but I am watching this thread with interest to see what is suggested.

I had googled (prob always a mistake) and come up with 'pseudo-gout' but GP was very dismissive. I have increasingly painful joints and they feel 'gritty' now, over the last 6m. A chiropodist might be an idea as they are really painful - it feels like the outside edges of both my feet are not 'reliable' for walking now (I already have mobility problems so not ideal)

I managed to take a pic.

(A) looks tiny but it's really painful. Several on the outer edge of both feet. Foot then feels unstable on ground, like walking on pins.
So the wee crystal bit is under the skin. After a long hot bath I can bring it to the surface and with some effort squeeze it out (tmi sorry).

It then looks like 'B' a hard grain, & leaves a small hole in my foot.

Corns.

catfunk · 15/09/2021 17:41

Sounds like Uric acid, it can gather in other places on your feet due to gravity / not just the big toe

52andblue · 15/09/2021 20:50

I'd wondered about Uric acid too @catfunk.

I was going to suggest corns too, I saw a sporner type video on YouTube about corns once after trying to research how best to get rid of my DD's verruca. I'd never known what a corn was but they did remove a large one sort of diamond shaped, size of a piece of sweetcorn funnily enough. Looked like it would have been painful to walk on!

Spottysausagedogs · 15/09/2021 22:06

Just watched it again, it was smaller than sweetcorn 😅 more like a 2 carrat diamond, as the lady in the video says. Its DG podiatrist on youtube if you're interested

52andblue · 16/09/2021 11:39

Had a good Google of pics of typical corns.
I don't think it is corns now (tiny, not on pressure points, no hard skin)
Still think gout is a possiblity (my gut is very odd)
