There's an ex marine in Afghanistan who apparently runs an animal sanctuary. He has been trying to get his staff and animals out. Apparently lots of people are upset that dogs and cats aren't bein waived through ahead of humans who are in fear of their lives. MOD staff being pestered and phone lines clogged up.

Kind of feel that if the staff minus crates of animals had been the focus there would have been more chance of evacuating some of them. And also that they wouldn't have had the support the animals have.

World gone mad etc.

This is a very complex and fast-moving situation OP and people have been discussing it at here at length for days now. I don't think it's helpful to cast aspersions on Pen or anyone involved - I think they all genuinely want an outcome where the greatest number of human lives possible can be safeguarded. Its not a case of animals being ahead in a queue.

I don't think it's appropriate to flippantly announce that it is 'the 'world gone mad, etc'.

I'm not casting aspersions on him, even if I don't agree with his priorities. My main criticism is of supporters harassing the MOD/trying to get special treatment.

I'll respectfully beg to differ when I say that the world has gone mad when people are trying to prioritise animals over humans. There seems to be this fantasy that the chartering of a plane gets round the resource heavy aspects of this mission.

Now I am aware of the other thread I would delete if I could, but I can't. Hopefully this wont turn into another big chat. My fault.
