Baby Poo on Airbnb duvet WWYD?

PinkPlantCase · 28/08/2021 08:40

Lovely stone coloured duvet and baby just had a nappy leak whilst I was feeding him. It’s proper bright yellow baby poo.

We’ve wiped it up and given it a good scrub to the point that I’d consider it clean but there’s still a mark about the size of a 50p coin and I’m worried it’ll stain.

Do we put it in the washing machine? Do we message the host? There’s only 1 duvet cover in the place from what I can see. Or do we leave it?

Put it in the washing machine.

Message the host ask if they have other duvet covers as you’ve put yours in the wash.

Soontobe60 · 28/08/2021 08:42

I’d wash it. Get some bio stain remover on it. And put a towel down next time 🤣🤣

Tickledtrout · 28/08/2021 08:42

If you put it in the wash now surely it will be dry by tonight? Assuming the rental has a washing machine

It has a washer dryer and I know the dryers on those can take forever! We’ve put it in the wash, fingers crossed it comes clean.

It’s typical, DS has never got poo our duvet.

Our air bnb this summer had a condenser dryer, everything dry in half an hour I came home really wanting one 😆

Sunlight will bleach it out in double quick time. Even hanging it up in a sunny place will do.

TheSandgroper · 28/08/2021 09:55

Poo stains need sunlight. It’s like magic.

AngelDelightUk · 28/08/2021 10:00

Definitely put it in the washing machine

Mybalconyiscracking · 28/08/2021 10:01

Go to your local Tesco and buy a new one.

MilkywayMonarch22 · 28/08/2021 10:15

Put a wash on and get it in the sun!

How old is baby? If pre weaning age then the yellow colour is due to bilirubin which disperses in UV light so you may have hope!

MilkywayMonarch22 · 28/08/2021 10:17

This has worked for many a white cloth nappy!

Tractordiggerdump · 28/08/2021 10:42

Just be honest. Hosts will be more upset if you lie or hide it. I only leave one duvet out and the others are in our locked supply cupboard. I wouldn’t mind baby poo in a duvet. They can’t help it.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 28/08/2021 11:04

Tell the hosts and offer to replace the cover and duvet if the stain doesn’t come out.

AlmostSummer21 · 28/08/2021 11:31

If I was the host I'd prefer you text me and I'd come and give you a fresh cover & take that one away (assuming I was local). If I wasn't local I'd advise the best was on the machine and ask you to hang it outside until the stain vanishes or your stay ends.

However, I'm good at getting stains out myself, so I'd wash it on 40° and put it on the line in daylight (it doesn't have to be massively sunny) and hope for the best.

If it hadn't gone by the time I left, I'd call the host (if possible) and see if they wanted me to leave it out or take it in & offer to replace it if the stain hadn't come out.

Another reason why white linen in airbnb is better!!

How is the actual duvet?

Good luck!

MadeForThis · 28/08/2021 11:35

Hang the duvet cover in the sun. Works wonders.

If there is sun

BSJohnson · 29/08/2021 00:07

Did you get the stain out, @PinkPlantCase ?

PinkPlantCase · 29/08/2021 08:36

@BSJohnson

Did you get the stain out, *@PinkPlantCase* ?
Yes! Thanks all for the replies, it went in the machine and on the line. It was dry by the end of the day and the stains gone, success!!
