Do you get this with socks? Or anything else?

I always get to a certain point in the evening when my socks have to come off. I rarely go without socks during the day because I’m always nipping in and out so putting trainers on and off. I never find socks uncomfortable but every evening without fail I suddenly get uncomfortable in them and the have to come off straight away. It’s not the same time every evening. Some days it could be 5pm and some days, like just now, it’s half 9.

I used to get this same sudden sensation with my hair when it was tied up and with my bra. I have short hair now so no ponytails and I don’t wear wired bras anymore so no more issues there.

Do you get this with anything?

@Ozberry

I think this is why some people don’t like wearing knickers in bed too
People wear knickers in bed? Why FGS?

Another one for clothes in general. But socks and bra in particular. In fact I don't wear either if I can get away with it and am in sandals or barefoot as much as possible. Thankfully am small chested so bra not an issue.
As soon as I can I'm in a dressing gown or kaftan Grin. I don't even really like pyjamas as they get all tangled round you.
I think I'd be grand in a nudist colony 🤔

JumpLeadsForTwo · 27/08/2021 22:41

Me too- I get an "itchy" feeling and my toes need to stretch. I can't sleep without knickers and pj bottoms though. Don't you need to wash the pjs really frequently if you don't wear knicks?

MaidEdithofAragon · 27/08/2021 22:49

Yes agree about socks. But it's all of it really...get home, bra off, socks off, watch off, jewellery off, change specs to crappy but comfy home ones, hair up and really unattractively have my fringe gripped up, loose dress on and birkies. Old hoody on top. Bliss.

Scarby9 · 27/08/2021 22:50

I've been wearing fluffy bedsocks to go to bed the last few weeks. Thin summer duvet and chillier than normal summer nights.
Suddenly, in the middle of the night, I will have to kick them off.
But I know it is the heat. I'm not good with overheated feet...

cricketmum84 · 27/08/2021 22:58

I don't but DH does. The first thing he does when he gets home from work is take off his socks! He only wears them for work or if he needs to wear trainers to go out. The rest of the time he is barefoot or in the garden in flip flops.

My 12yo whips off her bra as soon as she gets home from school and goes "ahhh that's better"! Makes me laugh 😂

TimeIhadaNameChange · 27/08/2021 23:12

Yes! Unless I'm wearing leggings and a t-shirt I get changed the moment I'm in the house. May keep socks on (but they'll often annoy me later) but jeans which have been comfortable all day become restrictive as soon as I get home. It's very weird.

Beautiful3 · 27/08/2021 23:13

I feel like my feet literally cannot breathe with socks on.

MrsRobbieHart · 27/08/2021 23:22

I’m sensing a gap in the market for breathable socks Grin

You know those sock keeper onner things you can buy for babies? I feel they’d be comfortable in place of actual socks. Sort of keeping your feet feeling safe and secure but toes being free.

I agree with PP-socks, jumpers, fitted trousers...all off by 18:30.

hugoagogo · 27/08/2021 23:34

No, I only take my socks off to put clean ones on, to have a bath or paddle.

possibleimpossible · 27/08/2021 23:42

Yes, I get it with socks. I don't wear them round the house so as soon as I get in they have to come off. Also get it with my hair needing to be tied up, I can't stand it after a certain point in the evening if it's on my neck.
I sometimes get it with jewellery too so my rings need to come off and necklace or I just feel really irritated.

choosername1234 · 27/08/2021 23:43

OMG, I'd always assumed it was just me with my "claustrophobic toes" as I call them

longwayoff · 27/08/2021 23:53

Yes, I understand that feeling, as if your feet will somehow suffocate you, horrible feeling. Also, and you'll only understand this if you get this too , the soles of my feet can suddenly feel very hot. Not a sweaty, sticky hot but an intense heat that somehow generates itself from who knows where. I have to find a cold tiled floor to walk on, or maybe walk through some damp grass. One of my grandchildren gets this too. The rest of family think I'm deranged.

Wannabegreenfingers · 28/08/2021 00:11

Another one with claustrophobic feet. I hate socks.....

LouLou198 · 28/08/2021 07:27

Yes, one of the perks of working from home, being barefoot for the past 12 months! Not looking forward to socks and shoes when I return to the office next week!
