Is dental care free for children?

In the U.K.? I am just curious because I grew up in the U.K. and don’t recall my parents ever paying for dental treatment.

We live overseas in my DH’s home country. I have just been given a quote for dental work for my 16 year old DS... it’s £4,500!!! This is for 2 root canals and one filling.

We are barely surviving month to month, so I have no idea how we’re going to pay it as nothing is subsidised here.

I occasionally say to my DH that life would be better in the U.K. but he’s not having it.

Yep, if via the NHS. If you choose to go privately, then obviously they charge :)

Yes, although there are less and less NHS dentists, even for children.

I’ve just checked and there is an NHS dental surgery just up the road from where I lived.

You'll be lucky if you can get an NHS dentist at the moment.

I've been with my practice (NHS) since birth - 42 years. Just registered my daughter who is 2 and they aren't taking NHS anymore she will have to be classed as private . I've called approx 50 dentists in and around my area and this is the case everywhere.
