Trainline booking - getting on at different station on route, ok or not?

I'm due to travel from station A on Sunday but if I actually get on at station B instead, which is the next stop on the route booked, would it be a problem, does anyone know. It's a single ticket.

Not a problem generally unless your station uses ticket barriers but you’re not supposed to do it. And someone might have taken your seat if you weren’t in it when you were supposed to be.

I think you shouldn't really do it, isn't it called shorting your journey or something like that, DS used to do it occasionally and I did worry that he would have to pay a fine or buy another ticket as had happened to some people. I think it is because cut price tickets are from A to C and a ticket from say B to C can be more expensive, same applies with getting off a stop early.

It depends on the ticket you’ve bought. Usually this usually against the terms and conditions of advance tickets. With a standard ticket you should be ok.

I've done this a number of times with no problems. As long as it's further down the line then I can't see you'll have an issue.

Officially speaking you’re not meant to, and barriers won’t let you through. I’ve done it though and I’d have though lost wouldn’t have an issue with it.

Can you amend your ticket? Then you won’t need to worry about it.

For some prepaid tickets it's an absolute no no if you get caught
